Two observations:

- Firstly, thanks for the considerable show of trust in trying this route once more. I for one appreciate it.

- Secondly, just for the record, Sci/Tech and CC discussion remain in Gen Chat?

It could be either, don't want to start over complicating it already so I can move climate change in here if you want

Personally I think the issue really isn't political but the form the response to it takes might be. However, I think it's been well mannered enough for the most part so I'd be OK with leaving it where it is, unless you feel it should be moved.

I will do my very best to behave. Just like football, politics divide but everyone should be respectful.

Thank you, Mark. Commonsense seems to have prevailed.

It's a great plan.

Forum does need a couple more mods to take the weight off, mind. At least one of them being a woman would be good.

A clear plan, giving us responsibility, and letting us know the mental cost to you @Mark - a courageous thing to say and I hope that I and many others can step up.

@Mark, if you feel you an additional moderator - please just mention.

Especially with the political arguments that have occurred recently and the new season coming up, it's really much-needed; and we don't expect you, and other present moderators, to try and deal with any report/complaint sent to you etc.

Am sure there'd be a few interested in doing it, even if part-time (not me, as it requires a patient person..lol)..

What's the criteria for being considered as a mod?

Spend most of my working days and weekends on here anyway

Criteria:

1. Is called Debs

2. Lives abroad

3. Posts with intelligence, patience and humour in a balanced and rational manner despite holding opinions I don't agree with

Anyone meeting those three requirements ought to send Mark their Internet forum CV and list of hobbies.

I also think we should have someone who isn't white.

We've not had any new mods for a long time, in the past I find its put those that were off visiting as much maybe it ends up being more about moderating than posting which it shouldn't be. It can become a distraction and the last thing you want is to attempt to moderate this forum lol

You have to be off your rocker.

Sorry, it's an old joke I am fond of.

So should we have an 'also in the news' thread or a more specific UK Parliament type thread?

Also, would anyone like a media/entertainment news thread?

Not in my view, I feel.this nee approach is an improvement as it narrows the subject matter making the threads easier to navigate.

I would think to start a thread on the current events in Gaza because quite frankly that whole thing pisses me off something fierce, but I also think that could get very ugly very quickly.

What do other folks think?

I’ve been too depressed to talk about it. I have friends and family who’ve been working intermittently in Palestine and Yemen for a few years.
