Does he realise how utterly ridiculous he sounds blaming referees week after week? What is he hoping to achieve from it?

Hoping to deflect so that no one figures out he's an utter fraud at this level.

Get that, and it is fair to challenge back. But who do you get in and can they work under Rudkin and co? The same problems remains with or without Cooper

Some of the problems yeah but the problems of the team visibly being awfully coached and having very little belief in/idea of what they're being asked to do, hopefully not. I won't argue for a second that he's been dealt a particularly brilliant hand but nor do I believe for a second there doesn't exist somewhere in the world a willing replacement who could play it better - we're not a plum job but we are a pretty well-known club in the richest and most watched league in the world and currently our expectations are pretty low. For me if the squad isn't up to it (which I might debate) and neither is the hierarchy (which I wouldn't) then it's even more important to get in the best manager possible but the argument always seems to be that everything else is crap so we need to keep our crap manager to complete the set.

Reckon he might get in trouble for criticising the referee.

He has had, what, 2 bookings this season?

That’s fair, but going to a game allows you to see everything and not just a highlights package. It’s not been great this season, but in spells we have looked decent. That shouldn’t be underestimated.

also, who do you get in?

last few games have been shocking. Fair. We don’t stay up because of games against Chelsea and United. We stay up because we take points from those around us. 5 points from the next 4-5 is achievable and puts us on track to stay up.

For me today isn’t a game that breaks Cooper, it’s many prior decisions which lead me to believe he’s out of his depth, but with the personnel we have, it will take a managerial genius to get the best out of the squad we have.
I personally would have liked to recruit Benitez, because he worked miracles with very little at Newcastle and wouldn’t take nonsense from Rudkin. I think he’s the calibre of manager we needed in the summer, as for now, unless we’re wiling to spend big money in Jan, I think odds are stacked against us. Players need to be motivated to work twice as hard as opposition to survive, so look at your squad and pick the most motivated, because I don’t think for us, formations matter a jot. What would help is using your bench over the 90 to full effect.

Being constantly reminded to be careful what we wished for regarding Rodgers, ultimately, in the long run, led to appointing Cooper.

Sack Rodgers sooner, probably no relegation, no appointment of Cooper.

But, good job those happy clappers, sat on their hands! (And despite all the pissing and moaning regarding Cooper on here, looks like they're doing the same this time - Not a murmur of discontent in the stands, not got it in us as a fanbase. Talk a good game of toxicity and protests though.)

Nail on head.

The fans clapped off the worst relegation in history. The same fans give or take a few hundred are still there, and as we know, just aren't that arsed anymore.

Loads of people have said this, but you can't be a Steve Cooper manager in this era of the PL. It's relatively scary how much modern football has moved on and whilst people might not have liked Enzo's coaching of 'styles' of play, that's what it takes to win nowadays.

Working like a dream for Southampton.

Hopefully Palace and Wolves getting decent results today will spark our board into action and the fact we are now dangerous close to the relegation zone, on a poor run and continually throwing in piss poor performance after piss poor performance will mean he is sacked tonight or tomorrow.

He is totally out of his depth. We’ve not been worthy of 3 points once this season which is alarming. How the higher ups can ignore this is baffling. We sleepwalked our way to relegation two years ago, it feels like the club hierarchy are deliberately pushing us there this time around. Little wonder Vardy is so angry, he can see it folding all around him.

The depressing bit about this situation is that it'll take another 2 or 3 losses until we even get the first murmurs of "Cooper under pressure" in the press, and then knowing our club, we'd need to lose another 4 or 5 before they took action. I doubt we get rid before January.

Seeing that I can't reply in the Cooper In thread anymore, what are your thoughts now @Webbo @Claridge

I made points about our underlying stats being shit and you just pointed to our league position and just said "we'll be fine". Just wanted to get your updated thoughts? Our numbers are still shit, we've stopped over performing in terms of ppg and our league position is starting to slide.

I really don't think he's going to be sacked at the moment. Not saying that is the correct thing but we are not cut off at the bottom and a narrow, on paper, loss to Chelsea isn't going to see the board move against him.

Personally I think he will be here until Christmas. If by then we are in the bottom 3 and looking like there is no hope I think he will go as we won't want to give him the January transfer window which will be absolutely key to any chance of survival we may have.

This isn't my opinion, I'd sooner he went now, just where I think we are.

I didn’t go today, I just couldn’t be arsed, I don’t think those running the club can be arsed either.

I didn’t go, my mates did and said it was flat as a pancake.

Don't think being a rubbish manager was good in any era.
