He'll only be sacked when we fall into the relegation zone.

Cooper is doing what he was brought in to do, keep our heads above the relegation zone this season.

Of I remember correctly, Cooper only has a 2 year contract which is odd, so the owners must have a plan of hopefully moving him on and getting someone else when we are more stable.

Owners and plan doesnt go together in a sentence these days sadly.

If he's only got a 2yr contract it's probably because they know he's not upto it but the only viable option at the time. Also it's cheaper to get rid of him.

We need fans home and away to let it be know we ain't happy and cooper's not upto the job.

Why don’t we all bombard the club with the same email expressing our concerns, and that we want a change? The problem with leaving it to the terraces is that, as said here, they take far too long to demand change.

in an ideal world our club would be thinking Fuch we have another Rodgers syndrome on our hands taking us down to relegation we should be doing something Proactive to stem this free fall “ Let’s put the feelers out which Decent Manager would take the job?”

In a Rudkin World then it’ll be “Everything’s fine he’ll turn things around the fans love him the squad loves him he’s an amazing tactician !”

Wake up Rudders smell the coffee or the roses or what ever the Fuch you want sort this schitt out now before it’s far too late AGAIN !!

My word, our club gets more and more frustrating. They do know from pres season to now, there hasn't been any glimmer of hope at all. Not even a bit to say, yeah give him time. We're in a false position, got lucky on our wins and draws and yet nothing is going to happen.

I can see why people are losing enthusiasm for this club.

100 per cent this

I had a dream we appointed Mancini , but alas it was just a dream we still have Crappy Cooper in charge :(

I had a dream the night of the US election we appointed Kamala Harris and then we lost playing in a cave.

He got a three year contract

Reckon the club wants stability on this front for a bit longer unless results improve, rather than getting someone else in who may not change fortunes.

If he worse? Genuine question 😂

He didn't do a bad job with Derby and Chelsea (1st stint)... his CV took a battering because of Everton but let's be honest... who has succeeded there? And yes his second stint at Chelsea was pretty bad, but they are a basket case too.

They wanted an early opportunity to give him an extension is more likely 😂

I know this will annoy a few people but I've become so disconnected with this club that as a season ticket holder, I no longer look forwad to the games, I don't feel anything when it comes to wins/losses.. I'm just at a stage of beyond care. We're not currently in any immediate danger but my expectations this season were relegation with the only goal set was to beat Derbys record for worst ever points. Not much to get excited about in that goal but I've genuinely just had enough of this club.

I don't want to feel this way but when the senior management is clueless, the manager is unlikeable and they treat fans with contempt than I have to ask what kind of environment are they really hoping to create? If there's a shot of even getting Potter then why do we persevere with a manager that we know won't be the long term future... just wasting everyones time and money for a completely pointless outcome.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Cooper but I can't say I particularly like him... feelings are neutral. We just play so bad but seem to get lucky that it negates any feelings, but I want us to play with some excitement and at least a gameplan.. both of which are lacking.

And can we accept Potter didn't/doesn't want the job.....he has gone a mighty unusual route to get it if  does....

He did want the job.

If I recall correctly (as reported by RL) negotiations were continuing right up until the evening of Wednesday 19th June but something in the contract was a sticking point and the deal fell through. I think someone on here said it was something to do with the hierarchy structure or his backroom staff.

We then appointed Steve "not 3rd choice" Cooper the next day.

He's 100% getting until January.  Halfway through the season to look at the position and decide if he gets the window or someone else does.

And that’s the problem. Should be getting someone to plan for the window. Not sticking a new man in then and seeing what we can get.

it should be, managers comes in, has games and times to identify what he needs. Then have a plan on January in place. So frustrating.

I doubt this is true. We have eight games before January. Do you seriously think he'll still be in his job if we lose the first four of those? I think losing the next three will do it.

The more pertinent question is what happens if we continue to stumble along without an identity or even coherent tactics, but pick up just about enough points to stay roughly on a point-per-game. Will the board stick or twist in that scenario? I'd hope that the memories of 2022/23 would be enough for them to pull the trigger, but I wouldn't bet my house on it.

Sadly, I’m not far off myself.

It’s just football in general.

The passion has gone from the club the team and now the fans are going the same way .... I honestly believe the club think the fans and the fans money will go on forever  ... enough to say if we do get relegated again I can see season ticket sales falling ... and the guess who the club will blame  having no revenue to play with ...  Us the fans

Quite possibly yes.  Though I don't think we will lose the next 4, we'll bumble through 1, maybe 2 of those. The year ends with Liverpool and Man City.  If he's not gone by then do they bring in a new man to take an absolute hiding from them?  You'd assume not generally.  So he'll get 6 games.  We play Jan 4th then Jan 15th, so a solid 11 days for a new guy to get a look at the team, try and instill something, and identify where they want improvements before a home game against Palace.

I don't think we'll do great in the coming games, but I also don't think others will either.  Saints next 4 looks a guaranteed 0 points.  If they're not keen on pulling the trigger when they've seen the turgid football and had nice international breaks to bring someone new in, I don't think they'll do it on the back of some poor results even now.  It'll probably take 4 games for us to drop into that mire, and then I think they might be looking for someone new but won't want them to have the baptism of fire that comes with our Christmas/New year fixtures.  Although I'm looking at it from the point of when I think they'll want to appoint someone, and I suppose he can be sacked weeks before someone is appointed, so on that front it's a possibility.  I'm looking at it more as though I don't think we'll have someone new before January.
