Labour hiring Sue Gray was never a good look, for either Labour or Sue Gray. Iโ€™m surprised they never realised that.

Some of my thoughts have been way off the mark but with reports from channel 12 in Israel that sinwar has made contact with negotiators ย (after many weeks of nothing) and from yesterday that Israel ย think theyโ€™ve destroyed every tunnel under the Philadelphi corridor into Egypt, ย I think the window for a ceasefire deal in Gaza is as large as itโ€™s been for many months.ย
ย

(add that domestically BN is no longer totally reliant on some of the ultra right for his majority)ย

ย

with war ongoing with Hezbollah, BN doesnโ€™t need war in Gaza to maintain his premiership. (At the moment). ย

Surely a ceasefire in Gaza, would lead to a ceasefire everywhere?ย
ย

Is Sinwar in Gaza or Qatar?

sinwar should be in Gaza โ€ฆโ€ฆ..

I believe that the IDF had him in a location after they took control of the philadelphi corridorย

ย

Hezbollah had said that a ceasefire in Gaza would mean they stopped lobbing rockets into n Israel (with responses) - that was before Israel upped the ante on them. a ceasefire requires both sides to ceasefire and I canโ€™t see Israel letting them re equip and re establish their military structure. ย This gives BN the chance to agree something in Gaza whilst still keeping the country at war in the north- a fight which does have wide domestic supportย

Which of course is exactly what Netanyahu wants to keep perpetuating as such bloodshed distracts the populace from his... rather questionable decision-making and self-interest.

Let's see what job Morgan McSweeney makes of running the country instead of Sue Grayย

I thought it was Lord Alli that was running the countryย :Pย

ย

McSweeney seems an open goal if there was a competent opposition given he was fined by the electoral commission for failing to declare donations.

There is a risk for his opponents that if he gets a ceasefire in Gaza (with the return of any living hostages) then a continuation of war against hezbollah will build his support base further.ย
mind you, I think sinwar is alive to this and will attempt to exact a high price (probably many high value prisoners released ). ย Sinwar should try to connect Gaza and Lebanon to avoid this happening. ย Actually - that window is narrowing again !ย

How can we give away a territory with such a banging coat of arms

May be an image of turtle and text

I don't often say this, but...

ย

Very stately turtles.

I actually think thereโ€™s far more factions operating in Gaza than perhaps we realize.. it gives Hamas the perfect opportunity to carry on the war by supplying other groups with their own arms โ€œ ooh itโ€™s not us firing the rockets itโ€™s the pesky ISISโ€ type thing. ย Either that or I just see the more militant aspect of Hamas morphing into another ย  Brutal organization. Also, ย once the hostages are returned ( I feel thereโ€™s less alive than we realize) then the IDF will become even more brutal in flooding whatโ€™s left of the tunnel network. Flooding the tunnel network will be catastrophic for the environment ย and render the farmland useless.

ย

ย

ย In short, i just donโ€™t see how peace can be found between ย 2 sides committed to each others destructionย :(

Only way this ends is if "the west" puts a stop to our support of what is essentially a genocide.

Hamas would prefer โ€˜the genocideโ€™

ย

therein lies the problem on one sideย

ย

clearly sig issues on the other too but being comfortable to see their people go through such horrendous trauma isnโ€™t one of themย

And it wouldn't end there for the other side, either.

ย

The Israelis now clearly want security for their own people through proper Old Testament style vengeance on a disproportionate scale. How well that sits and how justifiable it is clearly is up to the individual beholder.

ย

we are not supporting Hamas that much are we?

ย

ย

Seriously though, both as bad as each other. Just Israel are more powerful than Hamas so are doing it on a larger scale.

All ears at 3.30 pm. Tories announce the results of the next stage of the leadership ballot.ย  Will Cleverly make it to the final vote?

Probably, I think he's the best out of a desperate bunch. He's certainly more right centre, looking at approval ratings today he won't even need to go on the offensive that much if he becomes leader of the opposition.
