It'll be like National Lampoons vacation when they get all that way there and find it shut

And they won't get a refund lol.

Although I do wonder if they're planning trips to Disney etc. for after the hurricane. I which case, the story is a clickbait headline.

My company including my immediate team has a large office in Tampa. The last minute prep there sounds herculean, water, food and petrol being stockpiled free for anyone that needs it in the immediate aftermath. Just hoping things are OK there when we wake up.

'I'm not panicked': British family heads to Florida for Disneyworld holiday - despite Hurricane Milton warnings

Definite miserable face in local paper vibes about this after it closes just before they arrive and aren't allowed out of the hotel for "safety reasons" due to snowflakes running scared.

What’s she done wrong here?

My mate invited me to his box at the KP as he had spare tickets.

I went for free. Do I need to notify the press?

I'm expecting a full phalanx of Sky reporters on my doorstep trying to make something out of nothing.

I do wonder if, in these times of t'internet news and falling sales of physical newspapers, whether journalists get paid by the click?

It must be so much easier for them to post a non-story in a way that appeals to the lowest common denominator resulting in clicks, and  therefore, commission?

“Shadow Home Secretary receives tickets for artist in good faith.

Artist is later targeted in foiled terror attack abroad.

Artist is then offered added protection for tour of the UK by newly elected Home Secretary, considering recent terror attack and far right riots.

She didn’t declare the tickets, because she didn’t need to as they were below the threshold.”

I'm looking at that picture and although I know and actually believe you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, I'm not at all surprised.

What does surprise me is that there's flights into that area. Surely no airline's risking that?

People like you and I can occasionally get very nice freebies. When I was a journalist for a crappy little business paper I would occasionally get sent free tickets to shows, in the belief from the people sending them that I would write a review.

Unless I was going to freelance (and this before the internet was common place, so not even an online review, sorry) that was never going to happen. However, the seats were obviously available, nobody else was having them, so on a couple of times when it was something of interest, I went. Sue me.

People who are heads of private organisations get freebies all the time, I've no problem with politicians doing so, so long as it's not someone looking for political sway.

Lets be honest in most cases that is exactly why organisations or wealthy individuals donate.  In this case it looks like Ed got the tickets, possibly for his own profile.

Whilst Hurricane Milton was looming, Republican Congresswoman claimed that the Federal Government "is controlling the weather".

Well no f*****g shit, who'd have guessed, it's MJT.

And speaking of which, has she hacked the BBC weather page? What the f**k?

Ofc it’s a non story but we’ve built this political system for ourselves from all the post covid rage at tory sleaze. They are going to relish their moment in opposition and getting their GOTCHA moments.

Also no you don’t need to notify the press about your kp trip. I assume you aren’t a PEP, represent people or are in a position to be influenced. So no one’s puppet journalist is going to want dirt on you

Again, you’re not a pep, no one cares.

I don't think it's a post covid thing, it's been like this for years. We are at the end of the day still a very Anglo Prot country where pleasure and luxury are looked down on especially if it's assumed the person hasn't grafted for it

For me it’s more about what favours might be involved in the receiving of such gifts. Nobody gives gifts of such magnitude for nothing.
In any case, they should all know better than to invite such controversy, especially after calling out the previous administration for their shady dealings.

Distracts nicely from the £10million Frank Hestor donated though.

Tickets = bad, harsh = fine.

You likely gained no enjoyment from the experience thereby rendering it more of a service on your part. So no.

And yes, clicks are highly important to journalist's salaries. More important than balance, evidence, impatiality and truth.
