Could easily refurbish a lot of it though rather than taking away the one bit of the club that still has a bit of its soul left

Incredibly difficult without actually reducing the capacity. One side of Old Trafford has a railway line

Sir Jim Ratcliffe interview: Without my cuts, Man Utd would have gone bust by Christmas

Co-owner says sweeping redundancies were necessary amid huge losses and with club having ‘lost control of where ship was headed’

Probably funded by the taxpayer!

I can't believe they're actually leaving Old Trafford. I thought they'd have expanded like Liverpool have Anfield.

All very well having  stadiums like this but as Spurs ,Arsenal to some extent and Everton are going  to find out having a super stadium means nothing if your team stinks  the place out .

So only build a new stadium if you're guarenteed to have a great team forever?

The place was left to rot by the Glazers for 20 years.

Really is a ****ing disgrace that foreign owners can come in an allow that sort of thing to happen.

If a single penny of tax payers money is spent on building that stadium, then football and the country in general is fcked. They have multi billionaire owners and are one of the wealthiest football clubs in the world (contrary to the bull shit Radcliffe spouts about them going out of business) and yet want the tax payer to fund the stadium. Get in the bin! I'd rather see that wretched club burnt to the ground before a penny of tax payers money is spent on it!

It isn't being spent on the stadium.

Tax payer's money is being spent on the surrounding areas which is fair enough.

I think the issue is the surrounding areas but yes has got pretty shoddy .

United never should be leaving old Trafford... the ground however has failed to upkeep on its redevelopment. Im not sure a new stadium will change united's fortunes. Tottenham's new stadium is nice to look at, but still a club dry of trophies.
