wonder what the odds of someone like Man Utd coming in for Hermansen in the summer

I don't think any big club comes in for him. His form has been iffy since he came back from his injury.

He's probably stopped trying as much since all our defenders just wave the opposition through. He needs a year with a competent defence in front of him to rebuild his confidence and get him back in form. I'm thinking he might stay.

I see it the other way.

I think the standard has gone up a lot in the EPL from around 6th in the table down to about 17th.

This is why teams like Spurs and Chelsea are suddenly struggling more, Manchester United having spent a lot of time in the bottom 8, and its easy to see why.

Teams that would historically be say safe but bottom half can now attract better players and managers, this has led to the standard increasing a lot.

By the standard I mean the qualify of the defending and scoring, as in truth things like possession and intricate play are not that important.

Manchester City now affected by it as well.

Years gone by you would have at least 3 or 4 established clubs fighting the newly promoting clubs for survival, likes of pardew, bruce et. managing these clubs.

Now days the standard is higher, meaning the gap is higher to the promoted clubs.  Palace, Everton and Wolves started badly, but Palace were then able to go on a good run out of nowhere once their confidence improved and both Wolves and Everton were like a rocket ship as soon as they got better managers.

This is why as well, our experienced EPL players who were previously good enough for a European qualifying team are now considered of a poor standard as the standard required has gone up.  Also the EPL has moved towards a direct, pressing fast transitional game, whilst we have laboured with intricate slow build up play.

Ironically we nailed it in our title season, we played in a way that has become the future, but then deliberately moved away from it.

It’s also harder for the bigger teams to cherry pick the EPL proven talent now that the mid table teams can offer big contracts, too. More of the big clubs have to take gambles on players from abroad or spend mega money on EPL proven talent.

Look at Palace, back in the late 2000s/early 2010s Eze, Wharton, Guehi and Mateta would have all been able to have been bought for reasonable-ish money (still would have been seen as big at the time) as soon as they proved their quality.

Now you have to spend big or wait until the last year of their contract to get players like them.

We're supposedly looking at a replacement for Jose Sa this summer, and moving Sam Johnstone on. Swap deal?

How much is Mads valued at do you reckon?

before injury 80m, after injury 2m

Good luck! We wouldn’t want or need Sa or Johnstone. Stolarcryk would be our first choice next season. We will need another GK in the squad if Hermansen goes as well as Ward and Iverson’s contracts ending. But we should be looking for a younger prospect to back up Stolarcryk.

In terms of value, we will no doubt still make a tidy profit given he was bought for only £5mill or something but as had been said, his value will have dipped given his has been poor since injury.

The PL haven’t a clue and allows certain clubs to run up huge debts. How can Chelsea sell their women’s team to themselves for £200m!!! I read that the entire European women’s teams are worth £100m.
Chelsea have been allowed to totally ignore these flimsy PSR rules. The cartel clubs tell the PL what they want not the other way around.

Salah new contract at Liverpool.

Glad we won't have to face him next season to be honest.

Glad he’s not accepted the petrol dollar, hope he never does.

I’m not convinced they will.

Since his injury, he hasn’t been the same player.

Their away form is excellent.

Had a slow start to the season which has cost Palace a bit .

Didn’t realise Man City weren’t even in the top 4.
