Birmingham retired Bellinghams shirt and he’d achieved nothing with / for them I would be surprised if any team retired the number 9 shirt, Ayew was number 9 at palace and he’s number 9 for his country so why wouldn’t he ask for it if it is available?
dannythefox Posted 8 January Posted 8 January Can’t see him leaving he’ll get another year. Overall he’s ok coming off the bench and he’s scored some important goals for us. We could do better though but don’t have the money to replace 7/8 players. 2

It doesn’t matter whether Ayew starts or comes on, he plays the same way. It feels like being a striker in the box is an afterthought for him. His instincts is to hog the ball or cheat. Not great if you are starting the game or chasing. We are chasing more times than leading so his often repeated “skill set” is of little use. A poor tactical choice from Marti is keeping Ayew on all game and watching him become even lazier because he’s battered. I can’t wait till we see the back of him. He causes problems all over the pitch. He would rather see an attack break down than pass to a player or shoot when he has a chance. His two goals of late have came from him hanging in the box and not being involved in the build up.

He's no doubt on big wages and he's only going to get worse, not better. But then this is Leicester City in 2026 so most probably you are right and I am wrong!
Rubbersoul Posted 8 January Posted 8 January If we extend his deal the training ground should be stormed 3

Wasn't one of reasons young players were not getting game time is that more experienced players like Ayew have to be in team? Time to move and for MF (or whoever) to show confidence in far younger players in squads. Ayew is not getting any better and time to move on/ Wasn't he only signed because he had PL experience - that will not be needed for next season! 1
AjcW Posted 8 January Posted 8 January I can't think of a single reason why we'd ext...... what's that? Have I seen his agent? No I hadn't looked...... 1

Buzzell Posted 8 January Posted 8 January Looking ahead to next season I wouldn’t mind Ayew being here but I wouldn’t want him as our starting striker. We definitely need to get a proper goalscorer in the door with Ayew being a decent option, either out wide or off the bench.
filbertway Posted 8 January Posted 8 January Please god no. He needs gone. Man needs to go and play 5 a side or something that doesnt require much running.

It's just a shirt number. Retiring the number 9 shirt would be effectively announcing to the world that we want to live in the past rather than look to the future. We'll never have another number 9 like Vardy, but that doesn't mean we should never have another number 9. 2
Muzzy_no7 Posted 8 January Posted 8 January Nah if he gets another year im absolutely done with this club 1
winteriscoming Posted 8 January Posted 8 January Any club with any sense would get rid. Sadly we have previous to giving contract extensions to shit - Hamza, Thomas and Vesty spring to mind.

Nolucklcfc Posted 8 January Posted 8 January He’s not a striker but what actually is he? He’s alright but will always just be alright. Doesn’t deserve some of the stick he’s got since being here though, been way too harsh at times.
DAS Boot Posted 8 January Posted 8 January I’d rather extend my nob onto a railway line and have a train run over it repeatedly than extend this guys contract. It really cannot happen. 1

JimJams Posted 8 January Posted 8 January "...extend my nob" is not a phrase I thought I'd see in the Ayew thread. 1
