I raise you Pele.

Maradona , there is no no raising..

He set the bar that's never been reached (before or after him) even by me in my heyday

My mate manages a local bookies and I (half) jokingly asked him for a price for Monga to win a Ballon D’Or. He said he would look into it but off the top of his head he reckoned maybe around 1000/1?!

Its obviously very unlikely but man those odds seem good to me 😮‍💨

Yeah dont put pressure on a 16 year old to be a complete player but its ok to compare him with a generational talent like Ronaldo:brendan:

Not putting any pressure on him or comparing him to Ronaldo.

Just using the reference of Ronaldo when he joined United and the fact he was criticised for trying to many tricks without an end product.

Right but there are absolutely loads of players who made their top flight debuts early and were hyped up to be future world class talents. Delfonso, Morrison, Kapustka was deemed a wonderkid after Euro 2016 and was seen as a massive coup for us and he was being approached by top top clubs.

So many players got needlessly hyped by the media and created ridiculous pressure on these talents and it can go in so many different ways if the player doesn’t know how to cope with it or struggles to keep their feet on the ground.

Leicester fans have a right to be excited by these players but it’s getting ridiculous the comparisons being made and talking about Ballon D’ors that I’ve seen within the fanbase.

I'm not comparing him to Ronaldo. It's too early to predict Monga's career and if he fulfills his talent.

I was highlighting that Ronaldo was criticised for trying to many tricks at the start of his United career without an end product which was the topic of the original post.

Fair enough I was misunderstood! Monga has a long way to go and I feel like as a fanbase we should be doing our bit to shield him from unnecessary pressure, lots of fans are going full send on hyping him to the moon, I can completely understand why but with a young professional footballer you never quite know how they will adapt to this new found stardom so hopefully we can keep his feet on the ground and allow him to flourish!

Monga is basically our version of the Raheem Sterling that broke through at Liverpool.

Monga is more technically gifted but Sterling has more pace. Monga more reminds me of young Jadon Sancho.

Ask him what maximum bet they would take at those odds.

& what did SAF say to Ronaldo? Stop the show boating and concentrate on the basics!

Nobody is saying he isn’t talented and yes a little trick or to is great IF it comes to something, it’s about the bigger picture he can do anything he wants when he’s contributing to winning matches.

I don’t think we as fans are putting too much pressure on him. To the outside world we are just a club fan base getting over hyped with a young player.

however once this seasons starts and the games start ticking over,  the club better be on the ball and be protecting him because he’s going to get swarmed by the football world.. the attention could be unbearable

Glad we aren’t going in too hard on this one (minus the mention of Sancho who is shite).

Monga has Borussia Dortmund at 17 / next season written all over him. Hopefully he can get 10-15 goal involvements for us this year to earn that move.

Isn't the german route normally taken when a player is not a premier league regular? I think it would be less likely he goes if he plays regular this season and is going to play week in week out if we get promoted THEN gets a big money move?

I'm hoping for more Heskey vibes, help get us up and 3 or 4 years in the PL before moving on

He's 16 just out of the academy, were the results don't matter,  and it's all about producing individual talents and skills.

He'll learn to develop his end product, the pressing etc in the first team all in good time.

Give it time. He'll fail to score a hattrick in his first five games and half of FoxesTalk will start slagging him off, the abuse will spread and we'll slowly start undermining his confidence. Don't you worry.

Yup. The irony of this forum almost demanding we play the kids is that a lot of the fans turn on the academy grads pretty quickly. And heaven forbid if it turns our they aren't leicester fans.....

Nah look at Jobe Bellingham. I questioned why he’d made that move when he was going to play week in week out for Sunderland this year, but I guess the attraction is skipping a relegation battle to go and play European football.

Also he'll likely get regular football at Dortmund.
