I mean Wolves have been poor all season and that's obviously a big part due to the coaches.. but like O'Neil said about the goals they conceded yesterday, particularly their second.. if they've coached them all week and the players still aren't in the right areas it's on the players. There ain't no way any of our coaches.. even as useless as Cooper was, has trained our defenders to play as they have. The players in them areas have been crap for the past three seasons.. 22/23 relegated 23/24 got away with it against championship forwards 24/25 mads to the rescue but still conceding for fun. At right back we've got two players that are constantly injured, and have gone backwards since their ACLs etc, left back we've VK who gets beaten far to easily and Thomas who is bottom half championship at best. CBs, Faes don't seem to want to be here and is a calamity waiting to happen, vesty is too slow for this league, as is Coady. The only half decent one we have is Okoli and he doesn't look up to speed with the league yet. Only one out of them with leadership ability is Coady, but hes championship level now so doesn't set the tone on the pitch. Ultimately we need to invest in better defenders, at least one whose got the ability to lead by example anyway, similar to when we loaned Huth to allow us to literally limp over the line this season 3
les-tah Posted 15 December 2024 Author Posted 15 December 2024 We need to take drastic defensive measures at the back as soon as the January window opens—no delays. Using RVN’s contacts, we should move quickly to get Lindelof on the cheap since his contract is almost up. Try Loan Maguire for a fee and send Edouard back and invest in a solid right-back. This way, we’d have a centre-back partnership that’s already played 70-80 games together, while also strengthening our defensive line with experienced players. It’s time to make serious changes. I dont think we can afford to chance a young centre back now and try get them to bond with an existing player, for every Fofana you get an Okoli.
splinterdream Posted 15 December 2024 Posted 15 December 2024 I don't think it's necessarily the defenders that are the issue, it's the midfielders coming back and making the numbers. Time and again VK gets pulled inside as he, often a man left unmarked at edge of the box, it's lack of organisation from midfielders coming back and taking their man. There's ways of limiting those chances and that comes from coaching. Okoli, Vestegaard, Faes and Coady should be able to do a job, feel it's our full backs ,DCM's and wingers that need organising 2
whoareyaaa Posted 15 December 2024 Posted 15 December 2024 Buy Chilwel and KDH on loan new Right back and winger 1
Jazzy_Jeff Posted 15 December 2024 Posted 15 December 2024 Priorities are RB, CB and LW. If we can ship out Ward/Iversen (or both), Thomas, Choudhury and/or Mcateer on loan they would need replacing. Could mean at least 6 come in. Edouard will go back so have space for one PL loan and two from abroad. We are going to need to strengthen our best 11 if we want to avoid the drop
FoxesFourLife Posted 15 December 2024 Posted 15 December 2024 A right back, right winger and a centre back send Edouard back and get another goalkeeper on loan if Mads is out for a long period. 1
JimmyC74 Posted 15 December 2024 Posted 15 December 2024 The January window was always going to be important but you feel even more so now.
Sankey93 Posted 15 December 2024 Posted 15 December 2024 Just raid feyenoord 😂 Hancko Hadji Moussa Gimenez
Popular Post Ric Flair Posted 15 December 2024 Popular Post Posted 15 December 2024 Reguillon ought to be a priority target. Nominal fee to Spurs, 2.5 year contract that is ripped up if we're relegated and a £2m bonus if we stay up. 5
urban.spaceman Posted 15 December 2024 Posted 15 December 2024 If Mads is out for a while we should go and get Kasper back. The amount of piss it would boil would be immense. Sutton might actually have a nervous breakdown and drive to Glasgow in his bare feet with a supply of Toblerone. Bliss. 1 1
Tuna Posted 15 December 2024 Posted 15 December 2024 Something we need is proactivity. How long did we have to wait for the signings in 22/23? Far too long. Get the deals done early because survival depends on it. Targets should already be identified. Remember in 22/23 we had loads of games left due to the world cup. We won't have that chance again. Too many Rudkin led disasters in previous Jan windows for my liking.
Dmitry Posted 16 December 2024 Posted 16 December 2024 My bare minimum to stay competitive: Director of Football Two holding midfielders One center-back R & L full-backs Second goalkeeper
teblin Posted 16 December 2024 Posted 16 December 2024 This may be too many, however. - at least 1 full back - cb - cm - winger - different type of CF KDH might be an option as we will send one loan back to palace. Advantage there is we know what we are getting.

Buonanotte can play on the right for sure, but again I think he is most effective behind the striker. With Fatawu out for the season, we really do need a genuine right winger. 2
cityfanlee23 Posted 16 December 2024 Posted 16 December 2024 Defenders to look at in January (Send back Edouard) LOAN - Victor Lindelof - Contract expiring in summer, not featured much this season, he needs to put himself in the shop window for the summer, if we stay up and he does well we can get him free. SIGN - Reinildo (Atl Madrid Left Back) - Experienced, low wages, free in summer so will likely come cheap if we can agree a deal, really solid both defensively and offensively, can play CB so perfect for back 3. Likely 10m or less, give him a relegation clause. Maybe (depends on situation) SIGN - Chancel Mbemba (CB Marseille) Deal up in summer, wants to leave Marseille, prem experience with Newcastle, Champs league experience with Porto, would be a cheap CB who is strong and athletic. Only concern is he has fallen out with Marseille over something quite trivial which between him and the club has spiralled, he missed a medical on return from international duty, was fined wages that he felt was unfair, filed a complain with the LFP, LFP ruled in Chancels favour after hearing the evidence, the club refused to to pay, he's been thrown in the reserves and is desperate to leave. Chancel is in the wrong for missing the examination, however the closer details are hard to find, and the LFP have ruled in his favour. Players to look at/contact to sign on a free in summer if we stay up Devyn Rensch - RB Ajax Yarek Gasiorowski - LB Valencia

Such an obvious one for us to go for especially with how he wants the left back pushing forward and how easily available he would be Can’t wait for us to go for someone like bloody Matt Targett instead 4

JimJams Posted 16 December 2024 Posted 16 December 2024 Why the fxxk would we want Souttar? Our biggest problem with our defenders is their top speed is basically reverse! Adding another slug, one who isn't particularly great with the ball would be pointless. Souttar is proving valuable to a club chasing promotion, the thing to do is flog him to them. 1
