HybridFox Posted 18 January Posted 18 January (edited) A backroom team would be as good as a signing atm. Ruud needs help Edited 18 January by HybridFox 1
fox_favourite Posted 18 January Posted 18 January We're not signing anyone else, I don't think. The club is tearing at the seams, and the fans are the only ones that can see it. It's been broken for years!!!

The issue is not that we haven't spent any money in recent years, it's that we've spent quite a lot of money incredibly poorly with no coherant recruitment strategy. Not disagreeing your spot on. my point was clearly there’s a direction certain people who shall remain nameless decided to go in the recruitment area, which backs your comment on the poor recruitment strategy. it doesn’t look promising that we can recruit further unless we lighten the load, I read online Andre Silva at Leipzig on loan is an option, but just 6 goals in 24 games last year doesn’t excite at all Edited 19 January by SB87_LCFC
Silebyfox_89 Posted 19 January Posted 19 January Maxwell Cornet going to Genoa on loan. He would've been a good option on the left imo.
North Leeds Fox Posted 19 January Posted 19 January Getting ready for the championship. Getting our recruitment in place for the summer where we target a few youngsters to buy and a few loans from the big 6 that we can then try and buy if (hopefully) we get promoted. We need to start offloading some rubbish in our squad now, as going to be tough to get rid of all of them in the summer. Go for players like Maza, who are not ready now, but gives them 6 months to acclimatise and then ready for next year.
LCFCJohn Posted 19 January Posted 19 January Louis Barry going to Celtic. Would have been a good signing…

tickler28 Posted 19 January Posted 19 January Don't waste another penny on this season. Just throwing good money after bad. Balance the books and go again next season. This season is done....any money spent now is a complete waste.
Edingleyfox Posted 19 January Posted 19 January We need another striker IMO more than anything as we haven’t scored at home in the last 3 Prem games. However he has to be better than what we have or for that matter Cannon who was sold fairly cheaply after deductions. Please not just another back up squad player which has been a recurring theme

Mavididi, Ayew, Mcateer and even Buonanotte do not scare full backs, there is not outlet once our central players get the ball. Edited 19 January by les-tah

There's every chance we are under a transfer embargo if we go down until we prove our way of meeting the requirements for 2025/26 and for 2024/25 that will have already happened. I think we ought to make value for money signings as if we're in thr Championship. 3

Relegation itself doesn’t have to be the end of the club. But continuing the mistakes we have been making the last few years could (by end of club I don’t mean literally but as we have known it in the last decade). 1
JimmyC74 Posted 19 January Posted 19 January (edited) Hits home how bad a position we are in that there is discussion of bringing in Championship proven players ahead of an embargo. Not that that isn’t the correct strategy, just depressing. If we did go down this route though, selling Mads and Bilal to cover the reduced commercial income in the Championship , relying on the youth and likes of Ayew, Bobby Reid and Vestegaard (who we won’t move on let’s face it) would Ruud be best to oversee the rebuild? Feels such a wasted season Edited 19 January by JimmyC74

Sign young promising players for fees around 5-10million. Let them play 1 season in the premier league and look to build a team for future seasons. Even if, as we will, go down. The players will have develop a lot with 1 year to show their potential. I would play Okoli from now and let him settle, as he will be needed for next season I think. I don’t mind his signing. I do have a huge issue that he never gets game time with other blockers in his way who are picked ahead of him Skipp for 25 million. Really sums up how crap our recruitment was in the summer.

I think this summer business has set us even further back.

We will lose bilal and bounotte and have to scratch around for a 32 year old with championship experience.
thegaffa Posted 19 January Posted 19 January The only problem with buying players for the championship right now, is that we will be paying premier league prices. If the club had someone who could negotiate that if we bought players now for the championship, we would pay a certain fee and an additional fee if we stayed in the premier league ( don’t laugh 😂), but we haven’t. agree though we need hungry players with something to prove and that they and the club can both develop together over time.
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 19 January Posted 19 January 1 minute ago, thegaffa said: The only problem with buying players for the championship right now, is that we will be paying premier league prices. And also that the Championship is utter shite and predominantly full of cloggers that would make no impact in the PL.
