Really enjoyed this. Thanks for the suggestion

The first 4 tracks of On Fire blew me away when I first heard them, and theuly srill do. Probably my favourite start of any album, going from a slow calm intro to bringing everything in such a short space of time.

Shame the 2nd half tails off in comparison, but I soon got over that once I got Today - the album that precedes this.

Things that probably won't be suggested by anyone else:

All of the Darkness albums (most people aren't aware there's more than one)

The first solo Stephen Malkmus album

The first three (British) Sea Power albums

Any Gorky's Zygotic Mynci you can actually find

Jeffrey and Jack Lewis - City and Eastern Songs

The Smiths - The Queen is Dead

Simple Minds - Once Upon A Time

The Chemical Brothers - Surrender

Good choice of bands.

After The Cure, Simple Minds

are my favourite band - would

change that album to Sons and Fascinstion or New Gold Dream.

Obviously I'm recommending a Beatles one. Hard to pick as I think Revolver is them at their most creative, but I would recommend Abbey Road or Rubber Soul to someone who wants to listen to a one off album.

Really appreciate The Beatles - most influential band of all time.  I am your equivalent but liking The Cure instead.

Therefore need to listen to Disintegration, Faith and the new album Songs of a Lost World 🖤

Cheers! I will. I like the Cure but haven't got passed their greatest hits really so I will give your recommendations a listen.

I did pick up The Head On The Door fairly cheap on vinyl but it's the only Cure record I have (aside from their greatest hits). I noticed that Cure albums seem retain their value.

I somewhat think Smith is an underrated songwriter and singer. Even now his voice seems strong.

Yeah I think Head on the Door is their most ‘poppy’ even though it has some darker moments.  Their eclecticism is unique- probably in the same vein as The Beatles.

Interestingly Alan Wilder - former Depeche Mode - in interview said that it seems ‘fashionable’ to criticise The Beatles, but if everybody heard every song by them, they would all like at least one.

From the 00s.

J Dilla - Donuts 2006

Magnificent in its own right. Even more so in the circumstances it was made.

The Wrens - Meadowlands 2003

US indie masterpiece. The regrets of life hitting the mid 30s.

Takes a few listens to come round to it but worth it.

They are on tour shortly 30 years from Troublegum.

Got my ticket months ago. My dad's also hugely into them so we're going to see them every tour we can now.
