It's not going to happen but it would be so interesting to have a female manager.  Hannah Dingley was caretaker at Forest Green Rovers, maybe she'd enjoy the challenge.  I think the novelty and the different approach would be an advantage.

I think the first premier league woman manager should not be someone dropped into a relegation battle, against a media that are calling the club ridiculous for sacking their "overachieving" manager.

Honestly, the likes of Man United and Liverpool would be better off doing it.

Goes back to that thing about "do managers make a difference?" Look at West Ham since Moyes left. Look at us without Enzo. And no-one will convince me that Everton side stays in this league without Dyche.

Moyes may not be pretty to watch sometimes but the players buy into what he wants and he never gets relegated.. Getting a side that contained Antonio up top and Dawson & the cat kicker at the back not only into Europe but winning it is an incredible achievement. He'd need a decent budget in January but without a points deduction hanging over us that budget goes further. And even if the plan is ugly football, at least there's a plan.

Sunderland?

I get that he's got a lot of experience, but we shouldn't forget that he'll still be a gamble. His spells at Man U, Sunderland and Sociedad did not end well. And there were times at Everton and West Ham when things were a bit iffy.

That said, bring in a top class defender/fb in January, and Moyes should have enough nous to keep us up.

Well Moyes has done well considering....

We are now rudderless

If we’ve sacked cooper without having someone ready to come in then we are completely incompetent. As poor as cooper (and his coaches) were, he is still better being employed to prepare us for a PL game at Brentford in five days time than sitting at home.

All this speculation in the media should be nonsense - we should have our man ready to be announced

It's reported this isn't a knee jerk reaction to an abysmal defeat against a billion pound Chelsea. If it's true that consideration has been given to the management position for some time then no excuses for not having a replacement sounded out and ready to come in.

If Corberan comes with the Balague PR hustle again, I'm out.

We didn't do so badly with Enzo. I trust his judgement - I'm in!

(not going to happen though)

Top has been here since Wednesday, arrived earlier than usual for a weekend game so perhaps had a few meetings in London in the lead up to the weekend.

Here's hoping!

The Stats of the leading candidates for those who are keen to analyse -

David Moyes

Graham Potter

RVN

I'm sure we will all employ some mental gymnastics to as to who we prefer and why.... I still find it relatively hard to see past Moyes, given his stats over a long career.... Potter gives Steve Cooper Vibes.... Look at Coopers Stats below.... his Swansea and Forest Win Percentage is better than Potters at Swansea and Brighton.... his overall career stats are better than Potter as well....

It sounds like they've been concerned about our performances for some time (like everybody else) and that Top met with some players after the game on Saturday to find out what's going on. After that meeting, Top decided that Cooper's position was untenable and decided to act. If they've already got somebody lined up, we should hear today - but I just get the feeling they haven't reached an agreement with anybody else yet and it may drag on for a few days...

Discussions definitely started up with RVN last week. Maybe with the other 2 and other candidates too, but only aware of RVN

Whoever it is, I think it's already sorted. Only explanation as to why its been done one game after the break.

Unless top wad shocked how shit we were vs Chelsea now he's actually watched a game and realised 12 games I what we all knew from the moment he was first linked.

Based on his work at PSV in their academy/reserve side and then getting them in a position to win 2 trophies before he left and then they went on to win the league the following season. It's underrated and probably why we'd be in with a chance of getting him.

The sort of high risk high reward scenario. He's in my top three.

You lost me after the Brazilian winger let down ……

What's our relationship like with Wasserman? still in the shitter? after Enzo?

It's not clear whether Potter is actually with them anymore or not. Rumours in the summer that he'd cut ties.

Caveated surely by my numerous exceptional suggestions. I championed Arne Slot since circa 2020 an'all.....

I'm Potter Out, but I can see it being him.

Strongly linked in the summer, I can imagine that Potter was tempted but the baggage that came with the job like a pending points deduction, no money, likely to be relegated made him walk away, almost with a "if things were different, it'd be different".

So we go for Cooper, who is cheap and we have low expectations for the season.

Then the points thing goes away and all of a sudden, things look better.  If only things had been cleared up before Cooper came in, Potter probably would have signed.

But with Cooper at the helm, it seems fair to give him a fair crack.  12 games is enough to figure out we were in trouble.

I'm sure there's been a late night text to Potter saying we've sorted the baggage out, things are not going great with Cooper, would he be interested in trying again?

Fully expect Potter to be unveiled before Thursday, but Moyes would be my preference.
