Even the commentators called it a high line. Stop defending him. Doesn’t deserve much praise either frankly.

You misunderstood - I meant playing a high line itself was ridiculous, not defending him. Don't get why he did this.

Keep an eye out later/in the morning.

It was expected we'd lost against Spurs and he'd be gone.

Turgid atmosphere at the training ground, manager screaming at the players regularly losing the plot, loaning out young assets who were hungry to try to break the first team...

Mutual Consent = There will be some agreement on compensation, not the full package.

Decision by Top probably made at Half-time.

Don’t see the pint in all honesty! The problem is higher than the manager. And until that changes things will never change.

He's tactically inept and clueless, unproven. Something some of us said would have been disasterous when he was appointed.

This was Top's vanity project. His ego appointing RvN got the better of him.

this god awful set of players

They are, but we are shooting ourselves in the foot. Just like last time when we opted not to play a GK for 26 games..

Footballing suicide. TWICE. Suicide twice takes some doing.

There are managers who'd get a tune out of 13 or so players we have. Someone like Dyche or Moyes give poorer players specifics and take the pressure off a bit. Just for example, get Daka running, say, 13km a game. With x amount of sprints off the last man. And x amount of channel runs. That's it. They go out and run themselves senseless for that specific cause.

It ain't that hard.

Moyes didn’t want the job. Neither did Potter. Just like Cooper, I imagine Ruud was way down the list because anyone with any sense won’t come near the club. We now know why.

The mind boggles how at HT when 3-0 you can think, ya know, I'll stick with the same xi and same tactics for the second half.

Just yet another  example of the hundreds already  piled up of this guy being way out of his depth.

I didn't watch it but @StriderHiryu said he played a high line which is ridiculous. He'd been playing a mid-block to cover for the centre halves lack of pace.

After the Bilal sub and Ward fiasco, his decision making has to be seriously questioned.

Prior to joining, reports suggested he'd adapt the tactics to fit the players.

But it doesn't look like he is, which is very concerning. Maybe he's making a point in desperation to get more signings in?

Looks like he’s adapting them to suit the opposition every week

It’s time we backed a manager. We need a squad clear out and a board room restructure.

Top won’t back him, and we will be on our way to the championship and for the foreseeable future.

He’s sadly out of his depth but joined a circus of a club.

Our Summer transfer window confirmed our fate (I include Cooper’s appointment in that) but we then likely made the wrong choice in Ruud too.

But we are a retirement home… for washed up footballers Bertrand, Ayew, BdcR, etc

Ruud deserves pelters today. A manager can't do much about his team having switched off in the first 10 seconds of the game, and then again 5 minutes later, but he absolutely can for setting up the team in a suicidal manner against a manager that is known for playing a counter attacking style. The third goal is everything that is wrong about his setup and to be honest even the first two are long balls targetting the spaces behind the backline which are exploitable due to poor mobility (not just speed, but ability to turn, etc).

He did take Vestergaard off at 60, but to be honest, he should have made 5 changes at halftime to send a message. Vestergaard put in a clear 0/10 performance, and Faes not much better.

However, despite all of this, no manager will keep this lot up, the squad isn't good enough for the Premier League. In hindsight our fate was sealed as soon as Cooper was appointed. Signings like Ayew, Reid, Okoli and Skipp are simply not the level they needed to be to improve the squad and team. Okoli should start in that backline if we are going to play a high line, but he was awful for the 4th goal too.

Our fate was really sealed when Chelsea came in for Maresca. It really was a killer blow.

Employing Cooper and not getting Coberan in was worst decision
