Big call with Coady - he’s not been great either when he’s had minutes.

 

I think many are being a little harsh on McAteer - I’m hoping he’ll surprise a few this evening.

Well that's a Ruud awakening!! Macateer over Mavadidi surprised like everyone on this one. Looking at the central midfield we really need to get a solid midfielder in there in January. I also want to see Coady put in a performance, he talks the talk but seen nothing since he signed from him. Fingers crossed, legs crossed, eyes crossed, everything crossed! heres to hopes and dreams we win, forgetting what it feels like.

Would have had Buanotte, BEK, Mav but apart from that probably the best options there. At least Faes is out!

 

Edit might have liked to see Okoli alongside Vestergaard but perhaps he is not starting due to going off injured at the weekend. Good sign he is on the bench, I feel those two might compliment each other of the options we have.

I can only see a max 6 pts (perhaps the wins you mention). Don't think we're getting anything from the other 4 games. 

Feels like this week is massive, two home games, then we have Wolves before Christmas.

 

Also two big home games in January back to back against Fulham and Palace.

 

Those 5 home games are virtual to any chance of survival.

 

Unless we spend decent money in January and buy well, I think we will go down with a whimper.

What has happened to Skipp?  He looked decent in the first few games of the season, now he can't get in over Soumare.

What has become clear, is that we have comfortably the worst defence, and probably the worst squad in the PL - we need 3/4 starters signing in January to give us even half a chance of survival

If we're honest, he's just not been very good this year (and he had spells last year of not being very good). He often tried too hard and it affects his game.

Skipp has looked bang average to me pretty much every time he has played and was the invisible man against Chelsea on his last outing. 

 

The team is the team, you can't say anybody on the bench is particularly unlucky to be there.

McAteer will be subbed after 55-60 mins and Mav will get a chance against a tired defence. 

Surprised BDCR hasnt been dropped entirely for Alves or someone from the youth team.

That's one way to look at it. I personally feel that the more you get him out of position, the worse his positioning will be when the opposition transitions. 

 

Give him less responsibility and hope that it's fewer oppertunity to mess it up.

Mavididi for McAteer? With you on that but assume it's for a bit of added defensive solidity.

 

Possible that Okoli isn't fit enough to start and Faes has been comically bad, so even though it's a worrying lack of pace, Coady can't be any worse.

 

We've lost Ricardo, Winks and Fatawu. 3 of our best players. Whatever lineup we pick is going to look crap at the moment. At least the trio of BEK, FB and JV looks much better than what we've been used to seeing.
