Should have been given a run last season down the middle.

I remember his last few games being brought on and stuck on the Right wing.

Could have been decent here.

Remember when Kane was on the bench for us then went on to be a top Prem striker..

Similar attributes as well, we would be daft to sell but expect it from us, buy a player never play him, sell him, turns out to be more than capable.

Don’t think he’s going to be as good as Harry Kane tbh

I don’t think the poster was saying that. They said attributes not same level of ability.

Anyway, we don’t need and won’t get someone at Kane‘s level.

What attributes does he share with Kane?

His book value will be around £5m so reckon we would want at least double so it brings in a decent whack of PSR profit.

£5m in profit would enable us to spend up to £20-25m on a player on a 4/5 year contract.

But he isn’t worth that !

I reckon we struggle to get £6m.  Might have to settle for £5m to clear up psr on hi.

His shooting. He seems to have a knack for accuracy and power from range whereas a lot of strikers tend to do most of their work from closer range.

See his goal yesterday and some others for Stoke as well as on his cameos for us. Definitely more of a Kane style than Vardy for example.

There's absolutely no point in selling him for £5/6m, we may as well keep him. He's not on high wages and most of his wages are probably being covered by Stoke. Unless we get £10m plus then he ain't leaving. I'm not suggesting anyone will pay £10m+ for him in Jan but there is zero chance we sell him for any less as it wouldn't help us with psr or to be able to sign any more players.

If we were in the championship how much would we pay for a striker that is on track to score 15-20 goals in a season if we needed a striker? Surely we would find the 10m plus. There's a fair chance someone in the championship stumps up the cash. Especially someone chasing promotion taking a punt. For 10m plus it's worth cashing in if we do get that kind of money as you say. He can finish but isn't really suited to playing as a lone striker and struggles for pace so the Premier league may be a bridge too far. For 5m I agree, he's worth keeping, 10m we might be able to get someone in more suited to keeping us up and needs must at the moment.

We are absolutely not in a position to gamble on bringing him into our squad rather than selling to get our money back.

If a striker is coming in, we need to be more convinced they will be a hit than anyone will be with a player than barely kicked a ball for us in the championship.

But they're not PL clubs sniffing around.

I'd be surprised if Sheff Utd stump up £10m+ for him.

They've spent that much (and more) on worse. Fingers crossed...!

I’m one of the rare few that actually rate him. I’ve been keeping my eye on his progress at stoke.

people are so quick to forget how harry kane looked for us  ( same age as cannon). He was not bagging goals as consistently and certainly had a long way to go still. Where was toney or watkins at this age? Because he got a well paid move people just look at him as a senior pro rather than a kid who could only legally drink in the states as of last week. While i’m reminding everyone of his age, chris popov is 20… do we judge him the same?

i’ve seen Everton fans still frustrated they sold him. I think that had he been from our academy, we’d be looking at him in a different light.

I’m just annoyed that we aren’t in a financial position to be patient and see what level he can reach because the reality is that a 3 mil profit would probably be taken right now.  If we go down, we’ll need a striker and would be looking at someone of his profile so selling him just seems barmy at this point.

As an ex striker as manager wouldn’t mind seeing if RVN can improve his game, the natural instinct for scoring is there with him.

Funnily you say that. If Ruud gets his big man Striker he's looking for I wouldn't mind seeing Cannon playing along side him.

Cannon is more a Poacher than a Striker, And with someone to feed off he could get a hatful of Goals.

He could be decent in a two but doesn't RVN tend to play one up front with 2 wide players?

Shoots a shit tonne!

He’s been patchy though.

4 in one game against Portsmouth, who are woeful. One was a penalty. One was a freekick. Two from open play.

1 goal against Derby - Penalty

1 goal against Blackburn - Penalty.

1 goal against QPR - Open play.

1 goal against Luton - Open play.

1 goal against Sunderland - Open play.

In the 21 games he’s played, he’s scored in 6 of them. Of that 21 games, he’s only scored in 4 games from open play.

He’d struggle in the Premier League. His shooting is largely long range and good keepers and better defenders don’t allow those shots to go in.

The crowd and fans would quickly turn, as it would be like watching Undër again!
