Lambert09 Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 I’m not a football expert like John rudkin but for most clubs it makes sense to sell a player who won’t renew a contract so that you can replace them and not fail ffp. But ya’know, it’s not the Leicester way 1

Outfox the Fox Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 (edited) You'll know Martyn Glover was Head of Recruitment at Southampton before coming to us, his first signing for them was Walker-Peters! Lightning MIGHT strike twice - though I don't think Glover and lightning often come together! Edited 1 January 2025 by Outfox the Fox
RowlattsFox Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 Stop signing players that don't improve us. He's not the worst player but is he better than Justin? Rather take a gamble on a youngster then risk being lumbered with another player we can't get rid off.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 This would be a class signing for us, with 6 months left you’ll imagine he’ll be available for no more than £7m? What concerns me is if he chose to come to us over signing a new contract, how much extra pennies are we offering?
JimJams Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 He's currently on 50kpw. The player will surely wait til he's a free agent anyway.
AKCJ Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 I like him and dislike him in the same way I like and dislike Justin. I don't see that he'll come here and make us more assured defensively but I think he'll do very well in the Championship next season. Would rather we took a punt on someone else like we did with Justin. I would imagine that KWP's wages are quite high as well. 2
Popular Post Devonfox1884 Posted 1 January 2025 Popular Post Posted 1 January 2025 I actually think his attacking qualities would make him a really good fit for Ruud’s system - he has the ability to provide width and be a threat with Facundo drifting inside from his starting position. If the fee was sensible, I’d certainly take him. 5

It's only that they are resigned to relegation and his contract is up at the end of the season that he's available as they might as well get some money now than lose him for nothing in 6 months. He would be a massive upgrade on how James Justin has been playing. 5
mod hero Posted 1 January 2025 Posted 1 January 2025 Prefer Tariq Lamptey. His contract is up in the summer. 2

Chelmofox Posted 2 January 2025 Posted 2 January 2025 Doesn't Lamptey spend most of the season injured?
RowlattsFox Posted 2 January 2025 Posted 2 January 2025 People appear to have seen a different KWP to me over the years. Been part of a pretty rubbish Southampton defence for years. He's also in the Justin league of spending more time trying to win free kicks than anything else. Maybe I've just seen him on bad days. 1

I'm still holding out hope that Man City get pinged biblically in January for their FFP breaches and it's them Saints and Ipswich or Wolves that go down. I'm also not seeing West Ham as out of the Woods with Antonio and Bowen out long term - being responsible for over 50% of their goals in previous seasons. Perhaps we could compound their issues by selling Daka to them...

Edingleyfox Posted 2 January 2025 Posted 2 January 2025 He looked good going forwards but I remember he struggled against the pace of Fatawu last season. Can’t see Southampton selling to Leicester anyway

LCFCJohn Posted 2 January 2025 Posted 2 January 2025 Like others, I could see the merits of him as a player and think he’d improve us and unlikely to cost a lot in a fee. But, if he would come to us in our position when he is a free agent in the summer, it would suggest we won’t have learned on the wages front.
