Cannon is miles better than Edouard though and a different type of striker to Daka. Loaning TC out to loan in the Palace waster Od Ed was a decision bordering on the criminal. These loans and the Cannon sale with Edouard STILL here is another embarrassing and catastrophic mistake by our senior management team. :@

I’m really not sure on Edouard.

He was exceptional at PSG as a youth player; then great for Celtic. His time at Crystal Palace and then the loan with us have been average at best, borderline catastrophically bad with us actually.

His record for the French youth teams was phenomenal.

18 goals in 95 Premier League games. Better than some but he’s not dragging us out of a relegation sized hole and was an expensive mistake that many called at the time it was rumoured he’d be joining us.

Just for Context, goals to games I. The Championship.

Daka - 20 games, 7 goals. - 0.35

Cannon - 55 games, 19 goals - 0.345

Literally nothing between Daka and Cannon.

0.28 non penalty career xG per 90 is dogshit for a striker. This is a good sale, if we need him next season we’re f ucked.

So Tom Cannon was bought for 7.5m and now sold for 10m....but now we have to give around 20% to Everton. Is that 20% of 10m or of 2.5m 🤷

It’s the profit, do 20% of the £2.5m.

So £500k.

Sickening thing is, the money gained here probably won't be reinvested and will more likely go towards us balancing the books for psr. We're beyond a joke. I'm sticking with my view that we won't win another game this season.

He is ok but It’s not a bad fee at all, Sheff U are gambling on going up, it all depends how we use the money. I guess the plan is to invest in operation stay up. That’s a gamble id give us about a 30% chance

Because we need a striker to cover for Nacho and Daka during AFCON.

Naturally you sign a player on a permanent deal over multiple years to  come in and cover the reserve strikers for a month.

Wouldn't surprise me if that was the reasoning though lol

Daka was ahead of Cannon last season as well, so Enzo also made that decision. Daka also scored 7 for us in 20 games whereas Cannon scored 2 for us is 13 games

There were multiple reasons I suppose.

They probably expected to move one of Daka or Nacho on late in the window.

Vardy had a poor 22/23 so they probably weren't saw how he would fair in the championship.

He’s not good enough. Totally right decision to sell, it was an odd transfer to buy him at the time especially as he arrived with a bad back.

not sure it helps much to FFP though given we paid around £7m for him.

Be funny when cannon is in the prem and we’re in the champ what a club we are. Terrible decision

It's pretty much nailed on I'd say, we will 100% be a Championship club next year, likely passing through our our way to League 1.

Some sanity.

However, the whole signing from start to finish, has been a real LCFC special - utter farce really

Just to add to the stats:
Daka - 1,095 minutes played, 7 goals, 5 assists. Goal/Assist every 91 minutes

Cannon - 3,962 minutes played,  19 goals, 3 assists. Goal/Assist every 180 minutes

Would be interested to see how Daka gets on in a Stoke side rather than one of the strongest championship teams ever.

To be fair, I'd be interested to see how Daka would get on anywhere where he was allowed 10-15 starts  on the bounce

If the fans on here ran the transfers it would make Rudkin look like a genius.

We've just sold a player who can't get in our team for £10m and a profit. When was the last time we sold a squad player for £10m+, have we even ever?

It's one of the biggest problems we've faced over the last near on 10 years is that we never sell squad players for decent money and all our transfers are either star players for astronomical fees or expensive deadwood sitting out their contracts.

Reading this you would think Tom Cannon is the next Van Basten and not be a lower PL striker at best. There will probably always be a few hundred strikers in the world better than Tom Cannon.
