damolcfc Posted 28 January 2025 Posted 28 January 2025 Wow, he had a good season in the highlights reel. RVN has probably had a chat with Carrick 🫡

The article does suggest it’s an initial loan with potential purchase - doesn’t clarify whether that’s an option or obligation m, but definitely muted as a loan deal.

Pliskin Posted 28 January 2025 Posted 28 January 2025 January is a bargain bin….. it’s never been any different…. You’ll only ever get the odd gem through the door.

I know, but I think we have limited options, we do need a different sort of forward one we can hit. We don't have a lot to spend so it's going to be difficult. Edited 28 January 2025 by coolhandfox
winteriscoming Posted 28 January 2025 Posted 28 January 2025 To think we’ve got players like Tielemans, Mahrez and Huth in this window previously. Really is depressing stuff who we are linked with.

LCFCCKEANO Posted 28 January 2025 Posted 28 January 2025 Scored bunch for Boro, went to an Ajax who were quite dysfunctional and scored a few, different profile to our current strikers, all for it in a cheap deal 2

He's no better than Daka and probably not even a great deal better than Ayew and we only need him if Vardy is injured anyway. He's 29 and the problem isn't his fee, as ever, it would be the years he's then contracted stinking out the place doing nothing. If this is the market we're shopping in for strikers then quite frankly all the money should go on loan fees and other positions. The money would be better spent in the summer, whatever league we're in. Akpom doesn't save us either way. 2

The Cannon sale generates a potential £10-15m purchase but regardless it was always likely we needed a June sale to prevent any possibility of a PSR breach. Our main concern is trying to stay up, spending £20-30m shouldn't be too much of a challenge to meet.

Mickyblueeyes Posted 28 January 2025 Posted 28 January 2025 Might just be agent talk but if it is true and we are tight, in times of adversity, your scouts earn their corn. Decent for a season at Boro and im not sure how he’s developed at Ajax But this is surely not what Glover is paid for ? He’s had the easiest scouting job for over a year!

Living the dream I think it’s accepted we could do with bringing in a striker. I think it unlikely we’d be able to get a striker of the calibre that would replace Vardy’s position as primary striker in this window. So yeah, we’re looking to sign a striker that could take the load off Vardy - contribute 20 minutes from the bench, maybe come in for tougher away fixtures where we might need more of a hold up striker. This windows goal is about getting us what we need to survive; so it’s going to be a case of looking at solid pro’s with a solid mentality that contribute now, not signing wonder kids for years to come. He wouldn't be my choice, but I think we are looking for a different striker to Daka and Vardy. Just trying to make sense of the link.
