CEO pointing out decisions of punishments not made by the EFL. Some weak argument there

and the fact hes pointing to the Leeds/Luton/Derby ones too, given latter 2 were financial mismanagement ones, while the leeds one was during the season and before the spy ruling came into the rulebooks

their CEO for me is really clutching and sadly for their fans....theyll be labelled as cheats for a long long time

Wouldn't suprise me if spying goes on up and down the country, just Southampton got caught out. To me it doesn't rate as the most serious crime of all time for sure, so from that perspective, it does seem a very harsh punishment.

What happens if someone is caught when nothing is at stake? Like half way through the season. Immediate expulsion/relegation, £100 million fine, 30 point penalty? It's just another example of a club caught breaking rules, but there are rules being broken that have far more impact than this.

And some getting away without any punishment whatsoever.

May as well say any rule break from now on, is instant expulsion and relegation.

Breaking

The appeal hearing to decide whether to overturn Southampton's punishment is set to start at 18:00 BST, the BBC understands.

Ignore court cases, this is how should have been, Hull should have just been promoted as I posted earlier.

See I don't agree with that either. I don't think there's an ideal solution to this and I can see why they've done it, but my point all along here was there would be a bigger knock-on effect than people realise. Wrexham have a right to be aggrieved if Southampton have essentially robbed them of 6th. If you're docking points then who is to say that they shouldn't have been relegated for it? Therefore Oxford in 22nd have a right to feel aggrieved. I saw an Arsenal fan saying it regarding the FA Cup as well, which seems ridiculous and I think it's typical of their fans, but they actually half have a point for me.

I hope Hull beat Middlesbrough, but god after their little thing there I'm even less sure of that.

Four points deductions in under a year in the Championship. If you'd seen that was the Romanian 2nd tier you'd piss yourself.

think this tweet sums up that statement from the Saints CEO really well

also can imagine their will be a shitstorm coming if Southampton are reinstated

So basically they admit to cheating because they wanted a slice of the £200m pie and were happy to try and deny Middlesbrough’s chance of doing so too?

Am I the only one here that fully supports Southampton,. So what if they went and saw the opposition training...no big deal🤷🏽. The authorities and big clubs are are already corrupt and scheming. Look at at Chelsea, they've got away with being dodgy for over a decade and Man city 🙄

Hull thinking they should get direct promotion is a stretch.

You could say that if southampton are kicked out then Wrexham should take their place and a replay should happen to determine who plays hull. But then that implies hull should have played middlesborough home and away first.

We can't have endless scenarios so something has to give.

Just play the game and win it.

it’s a big deal because the rules explicitly say you can not do that.

and it’s such a stupid argument to say they shouldn’t be punished because Man City or Chelsea haven’t been. How about ALL rule breakers should be punished instead?

If they dont announce the outcome today, they have to postpone the final surely?

At this point no one will have any transport logistics in place if you are only 48 hours from kick off.

Also think it's very convenient that they've admitted to Oxford away and Ipswich at home - two games they didn't win and were therefore fairly inconsequential other than arguably Middlesbrough should've finished above them and got the home leg 2nd. There's no way it only happened three times. Absolutely no chance.

I think I just really dislike seeing teams achieve things by default. It won't actually happen but if Man City are stripped of their titles, using an extreme example, we've now got a load of clubs netting Premier League trophies by default and is that seriously what people want?

Funny how they haven’t admitted spying in games they won! Punishment would have been worse I reckon. Admittedly JIpswich and Oxford may have some evidence. But it certainly addresses a Novice manager with a 62% win rate who went on a 20 game unbeaten run. Slippery ****! Relegate them to the conference along with Man City.

Mate, in the eighties we would sometimes decide on a Saturday morning that we were going to drive to an away match. I'd always manage to get at least two others to the fuel cost.

Southampton would have had a better chance if they'd have immediately come out and sacked the responsible parties and apologised.

The reality is with the time constraints the only punishment suitable was to kick them out. If they've admitted to a handful then it's fair to suspect others. Without the time to do an in-depth look into it you've got to take them at face value and punish them based on what they've admitted to.

I'd say they are overall lucky to just be booted out of the playoffs. If they've spied on every game this season and were found out before the playoffs, who knows what the punishment could have been.

The game should be postponed though. Not fair on Hull having to prepare for both teams at short notice, when both of the other teams can prepare solely for Hull. They deserve more prep. time.

Exactly.....they have only admitted to the game's that they lost or drew........How many more did they do?Seems weird from going from the relegation places in November to the play offs in May........Their is alot more to this.Wether we will get the full story is another thing..........But their Manager must have known.

".... Right lads, and you Tonda, sir, listen up....

I've had a right good look at Leicester at this out-of-this-world training ground called Seegrove or some such. I tried to work out their tactics - but they didn't seem to have any. I tried to guage their fitness, but couldn't - they just didn't seem to move much. I couldn't work out their attitude or drive - they had none of that either. So I reckon you should have a bit of a relax for the first hour or so and, as long as they've only scored 3 or 4 ...... easy victory!! Enjoy!.... "
