Well, he's bound to get sacked at least, if this is the case!! Gutted 🤣🤣🤣 The whole thing brings their long unbeaten run into disrepute.

The problem is where do you actually draw the line. So is it fair on Wrexham who didn't get a crack in the play-offs? Or Oxford?

It's a dodgy precedent. They deserved punishing. A heavy fine that is actually a deterrent to teams doing it in future - for example if they're fined £5-10mil for it teams won't consider it close to worth the trade off. But Middlesbrough should not have a chance to be promoted. The entire thing is just a mess now.

If Eck gets sacked does he go on our shortlist?  lol

Remind me who he manages again. There's no way he wouldn't have been anyway.

Still nothing on Southampton website, still advertising they have game on saturday!?

Makes the manager look a fraud, could find himself blacklisted from management for a while.

I know it will come into force next season but that is four clubs deducted points in this year's timeframe. Must be a record?

im with you, its a total mess with it all, Saints dont deserve to be in the final due to the spying on numerous occasions this season....they mentioned oxford and Ipswich.....but its likely more if you really go into forensic detail;

be very surprised if they get reinstated.....can imagine they could get points back

Yeah, it just doesn't feel right that this is the outcome. It isn't the same as fielding an ineligible player, for instance.

I think Hull will be pleased with this, to be honest.

There is a criminal legal defence that if you genuinely didnt know you were committing a crime as you didnt know there was a law against it, that is a valid defence. Talking petty shit though, not the big ones.

This however is bollocks on his behalf. English rules and German rules would be the same. If anything, the German rules would be stricter. He then came to Barnsley and would have known the rules then, then went Italy where there would be rules like this and then back here. Only difference is this time he was the manager and not the assistant.

Hes either a liar or an imbecile. If Canada get in the shit for spying, you can be damn well assured all other countries where football is a more popular sport than it is in Canada have strict rules.

As they should. Playing under the pretence of working towards bonuses, contract extensions etc and have it took away because of stuff out their control is not right. How deep does it go though? Did they know the info Southampton were getting and telling their players came from spying or not?

Hull will be buzzing. I've nothing against Middlesbrough, but after this, I really hope Hull do it.

If the punishment was going to be the same pre those boro matches, and its kick out and 4 points, it makes sense to have had a debate on 7th taking the spot. Where we are now it obviously isnt.

If Southampton had been found to be doing this before the playoffs, the question is would it have only been a 4 point deduction or would it have been more as the main punishment is losing the playoff chance and it would have been more points if that wasnt on the table?

The rule wasn't in place when Leeds did it. That was what caused the rule to be added. Southampton have then broken that rule. No sympathy for them.

There’s not a chance these were the only 3 games they spied on.

Coincidence it’s 3 games where they didn’t win, pushes the narrative for them that they didn’t receive a sporting advantage.

Agreed, surely they spied on many other teams, including us...

Yet despite that we went 3-0 up in the game.

Our second half capitulation is entirely on us, we can't even blame them spying!

Sometimes I feel like I come from a different planet, do people really believe Saints will be banned from the PO final? After winning the semi? Imagine the court case and legal battle.

It'll be a fine and possibly a points deduction next season.

Oh my god another classic from me.

As i said earlier... the game has been destroyed.

It used to be that the end of season "table doesnt lie"

Now we have teams being relegated and teams possibly promoted on legal rulings. Its all related to the removal of responsibility from referees, introduction of VAR and the selling out of football.

I personally couldn't be happier to see him with egg on his face, couldn't happen to a nicer guy, maybe his mate Gerhard but he was already found out

I would imagine they are waiting on the verdict of the appeal.

No chance they’ll be reinstated but can possibly see their points deduction become a suspended one.
