Starting for Liverpool against the Green Army today, did we get a ‘development’ fee for him or a transfer fee?

because it's hard to stop the big six poaching your scholars. at his age he couldn't have signed a contract with us so we had no control

It's very weird, that in a climate rife with psr and potential points deductions, that a potential multi million pound fee can be just left dangling for several years. The guy already has a league cup winners medal and has played in the champions league.

 

But we are in a situation where if we go a million over allowed loses we get hammered by the prem, but they seem to have no appetite to make their big 6 chums actually get around to paying for a player they have just snatched. That money could have enabled us to get a promising winger or striker in January, if it was enough to offset the first year amortization of a four year deal, for example.

It makes you angry until you realise we do exactly the same to lower league teams. It’s a proper predator/prey type thing with the big 6 being the apex predator who can abide by their own legalities.

Not a great advert for playing academy players. 

 

Its not about now, its about where they are when they hit their prime. Nyoni may go on and be phenomenal, it still might not be in a Liverpool shirt.

Took 2 years for Harvey Elliott's tribunal for his move from Fulham. I'd imagine we'd be demanding close to the £4m they paid for him given his first team involvements

Possibly, though in that case there should be an initial fee followed by some sort of multiplier when criteria is met.  Not only because then it doesn't take the piss getting some actual money but some players might decide that they're better off staying put sometimes in case their new club decides not to play them in order to save  a few quid.  Might also make the new club think twice about taking the player if they know they'll be forking out for, let's say the length of the players first contract.

Ukranian.  Their brand new (apparently record) signing out from LASK Austria for 2M.  That was his debut (!) for them.  I also thought he looked superb.
