Thomas would work better with him imo,

Vk and mav clash because both want that wide channel

Maybe Mav struggles cuz he has to share his braincell with VK who doesn't need it? - At least with Thomas they'd only have one between them anyway? :P

Worst player on the field for either side, what a fall from grace.

Time waits for no man as they say. It was a sorry sight, and unfortunately, due to our injuries it will be a frequent sight in the coming games.....though at this stage we might as well play Merino as a striker.

He’s been rubbish for ages. Remember our FA Cup game v Chelsea last season. He was even worse in that one.

Not for the whole game. It was just nice to see someone who could actually tackle and see a pass

In the Great Escape season we were always in games. No thrashings. There was character and then it clicked. Can’t see it this season.

It was cooper esque, team was set up to not get hammered, it clicked when cambiasso started to call the shots

Must have been one of the worse games of the season. I was so bored by HT. We were awful and Arsenal didn’t look like a top 4 side. It looked like, and felt more like, a cup tie where we brought them down to our level.

He was. And I’m not saying Vardy was good either.

He wasnt and I’m not saying it’s Vardy’s fault either. He’s 38 and for him to be our only option week in week out up front is quite frankly a disgrace from the club. Sterling played wide left , he went offside a lot and was pretty crap but ignore him and you’ve still got Trossard, Nwaneri, Merino, Odegaard etc to do something. Vardy is basically our only hope of scoring a goal and he wasted our best two attacks. It’s not his fault, he’s too old! So sad to see him like this

Ah, we all have different views. I was pleased with the 1st half. We defended very well, looked solid and had some nice passing phases, with the 2 Wilf efforts. If Ayew had been a bit more alert in the 1st minute we might have scored.
So if Faes had not lost his man , again, for  their 1st , and we didn’t need to chase an equaliser to concede the 2nd, you’d have been fed up with a draw and people praising a great defensive performance ?

We just launched the ball every time we had it. Was like a lower league team just booting clear. I got bored of it as well as constantly giving them the ball from goalkicks, or said goalkicks going out of play.

If we didn’t lose a man and concede a cheap 2nd is irrelevant. We did do that and it’s why we’re in a relegation battle. Arsenal hit the woodwork twice.

No I wouldn’t have been bored with a draw. The final result is completely different to the actual game.

I see what you mean, but I was just pleased we were still in the game for 80 minutes, and we’d made some good chances. Almost a tap in second half for BDCR , so it wasn’t just about their motm hitting woodwork twice.

we can’t go toe to toe anymore. Same at Man U, we have to defend for our lives , soak pressure, and try to grind out results .

I think that Forest have shown the blue print for what we should have been doing.  20th in the league for possession and for 20th for completed passes yet sitting third in the league with their counter attacking strategy.

It's what we should have done as soon as Enzo left.  We should have recognised that we don't have the squad to go toe to toe in this league, playing on the counter should have been the obvious choice.  Instead of buying geriatric defensive wingers we should be playing a forward line with pace.  I wouldn't have had an issue with Cooper's bus parking tactics as long as we had a threat and an outlet ourselves.  Jordan Ayew and BCDR do not provide that.  Sadly, nor does a 39 year old legend.

Just watched the goals again.
As someone else has said, why didn’t VK push  himself to make up the ground for their 2nd. He might have been knackered, but as a pro he should have had enough in the tank to make up the few yards- he had time to do  it. That and Faes for their  1st so bloody frustrating

I think this is a fair assessment. If any of our chances go in then the way people view the performance changes drastically.

You can't blame everyone though, everyone is just fed up of how devoid the club is of just about everything.

I feel sorry for the players today, They gave it everything in terms of effort but just not good enough. The poor decisions in recruitment the past few seasons are costing us dearly.

The patterns of play were better today when braking forward, but our lack of pace and a physical presence is costing us every game we play.

Not sure what Ruud can do with the players he has to choose from except keep working with them trying to find something.

If we could play like that against shitter sides we might be alright, problem is our levels drop. Arsenal are still a good side, I think one of the best defences, fresh from smashing Man City.

our issue is not losing 2-0 Arsenal with a decent fight, it’s rolling over against Wolves, Fulham, Palace etc

The fundamental issue remains we aren’t good enough, because no players have been brought in for Rudd that’s one man’s fault. Rudkin

The players fought hard and are playing for the manager still, they aren’t good enough but I couldn’t fault the effort today, with the exception of Mavididi who can get in the bin, so ****ing predictable and lazy, he gave the ball away cheaply after Ayew battle all afternoon.

The side of 2014-15 were a bunch of journeymen, going down. But look what happen when we changed direction, we did something different, no longer predictable boring trying to keep the score tight and hoping we could nick something. We just went for it, every break we chucked everything at it. And it worked. But you need to be brave, and come up with some sort of plan. We're now at that point, and I don't think the likes of ayew and BCD are the ones to pull it out the bag.

It was the switch to 352 that changed things for us that season. We need to follow a similar approach now, as it would allow us to get both Bilal and Facundo in the team. Daka has to get a run of games, too. With him, Bilal and Facundo up there we will at least have 3 players capable of running and pressing.

This absolutely won't happen of course. RVN will die on his 4231 hill.

Defo agree re. VK for the second. Couldn't Coulibally have attacked the cross on the first. I thought he had a great game, but for me it was him on the first.

You can’t fault the efforts of the players on the whole just lack quality and pace.

Positives:

- wilf being back forms a decent partnership with bouba

- Woyo looks decent

- okoli had a decent game

- bilal was good again

Need to have some pace in the team though, I didn’t think Ayew was as bad as some on here(and definitely not his biggest fan) but you can’t have him Vardy and Bobby as your front 3.

Cooper managed six PL home games. We scored in all 6. It still baffles me that RvN gets compared to him favourably.

I think RVN can be a good manager. His ideas and the way he talks are elite level and you can see the team generally improving. But the team is so average that it is hard for RVN to produce elite results using an average squad.

Cooper on the other hand was pragmatic. He didn’t impose a style that endeared to fans but he produced results. Understood the team is average and he needed to play one sided football (literally) to narrow the pitch so as to compensate. Yes it was not pretty to some and we played only one winger when the fans were screaming for both (including me for a short while actually) but in hindsight I say he was right. If we tried to replicate other teams and try to play free flowing attacking football using the whole width of the pitch, we would come out losing every game (just like under RVN).

Cooper always made us look like scoring every game but our defence was just crap beyond repair - individual errors from Faes and Justin in particular lost us so many points. Both were not Cooper signings. Okoli by the way looks good.

The main difference between Cooper's reign and Ruud's is that the team overall has a much better structure now. As a result, we are producing far better passing patterns through midfield and conceding far fewer shots than under Cooper. The problem is that Ruud is topping that structure off with our oldest, slowest players so we look totally toothless going forward. And the players at the back keep making individual errors so we are continuing to leak goals.
