The term national treasure always reminds me of when some celeb dies who barely anyone under 60 remembers, the news report usually goes something like And finally the world mourns as one of our national treasures has died. Comedian Frankie McPedo adorned our TVs on a Saturday night in the 1970s with his side splitting famous catchphrase 'Shut that window!'

Been mentioned already but Bob Mortimer. Impossible to hate the man, so many amazing and hilarious stories and his brain works in such a unique way.

His Peter Beardsley bit on Athletico Mince kills me. I don't understand how he comes up with it

John Cleese

One of the last true great comedians from that sort of era.

His body of work is so great as a comedy writer and comedy actor. I still think, personally, Fawlty Towers stands at the top of the greatest British sitcoms.

Hands down the best ever. My dad got me into it and I’ve watched every episode 20+ times. Proper comedy
