The only positive thing is that the team is moving the ball quicker and there's kinda more intensity. That's it. Everything else is again Spursy-esque. Any other opposition would have scored between the 60-75min as the defense was all over the place. First occasion, Albania finds 3 vs 2. Second one, 3 players are losing a header and there's suddenly a 1vs1.

Dont let the 2-0 score fool you. Any other team from the big 4 European football nations will punish us right away in these situations.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that there isn't work to be done - least of all Tuchel.

But the key point you've covered is in the first sentence because rapid movement and intensity are exactly what we lacked last summer. We were too passive, insipid and easy to play against.

Tonight, England have played against a low block put in place by a team who rarely lose heavily (they only lost by a goal against Spain and Italy, for example), so friendlies and the Nations League will be better indicators.

Do you mean the likes of Spain, Italy and Croatia?…….who only beat Albania by one goal or drew with them (in Croatia’s instance) in the last year.

They way we pressed when we lost the ball was very different to Southgate. Immediately went all out to try and retrieve the ball.

Played more direct passes over the top as well.

Also Tuchels assessment of the game was pretty spot on also. Was quite critical of Foden and Rashford

The defence being all over the place would be a worry if it wasn’t the managers first game, and there wasn’t two debutants in there. Let alone that’s nowhere near the first choice back four that we would play. With how low a block Albania played there was always going to be so much more space when they broke than to when we did.

Eng U21s was the game to watch, the future looks bright for the snr team with the depth coming through on top of those like MLS who have stepped up. Just need a coach willing to look to the future.

Gutting there's no Leicester players good enough to get into the squad- just saw them all get off the bus in Wembley and whilst everyone was clambering around to get pictures of the players from their clubs, there was no one I was remotely interested in

It's going to be a while before we see that again unfortunately.

Time Foden was dropped not performing for club or country atm a chance for someone like Morgan Rogers to slip into that role.

He'll find his feet against us in a cpl of weeks don't you worry

Clearly England will dominate the ball and clearly Latvia for the most part will have eleven men behind the ball.. its about keeping on the pressure and breaking these teams down. Once we score the floodgates may open. Its about staying focused and doing the simple things right.
