Dare I say that we might have dodged a bullet here?

To position yourself as leaving for months, only to then return a week into pre-season… what’s that about?

But but buttt he potentially plays youth players. That overrides any and all crimes against humanity!

Nice sequence and looks like it should be a prime number... but it's not! :jawdrop:

I'm not one to make stuff up for attention, but I thought it was worth sharing this. As I've said before, I know a member of Shaun Dyche's family, and it was them who told me he was really keen on the job before RvN got the sack.

I saw that person again last night and obviously we chatted about it. They told me that the club initially wanted Dyche and made the right noises. However, negotiations dragged on and then subsequently broke down over three things 1) SD and the club couldn't agree terms, what he was offered was less than he earned at Everton, and he feels he's no worse a manager than he was. 2) Dyche, Stone and Woan are a trio and they come as a package, (they even own properties in Spain and Portugal together). Anyways, LCFC were less keen on these two and apparently they were made to wait for an offer, and when it did finally come, they were offered a lot less, borderline derisory offers. 3)...and most interestingly for me, apparently Dyche got increasingly frustrated with the lack of clear answers when asking about recruitment budgets etc, to the point where he felt he had know idea what the real picture is, so negotiations ended after a number of weeks.

As you can imagine, from being really keen initially, it dragged on to the point he felt it wasn't worth it.

I have no interest in making up rumours to look ITK. This just happens to be a very rare occasion where I know someone who knows someone involved. I believe what they've told me to be true.

All sounds pretty reasonable based on what we’ve seen from the club over the past few years

Fits with my theory that we were basically stringing Dyche and Wilder along as backup options. I imagine the club are quite keen on keeping King around as well, who would have likely been sidelined

Similar to what I heard via someone who knows Woan, number of issues and uncertainty led to them deciding would be too difficult and abandoning interest

Also a rare occasion where the club are right….

1) we aren’t in the premier league so we aren’t going to pay what Everton were. That’s an outlandish request. (Unless he meant he wouldn’t get that if we went up)

2) the club want a certain direction and perhaps certain coach’s have been hand picked for that. Kingy and clearly attempted with BBM

3) I get why we wouldn’t have an answer, depends who we can get out the door. Club can’t commit to 15m and then we don’t raise enough funds and the manager is angry as he feels lied to. Again, could be more because they wouldn’t say we need to sell to buy etc.

my last point, dyche clearly isn’t the man for the job if he needs assurances on buying players because our squad is extremely good at this level and a good manager wouldn’t feel they need big investment

Yes, mate. I don't disagree with anything you've said there. I'm just relaying one side of the events. As you say, the lack of a straight answer, that could be interpreted a few different ways.

Number 3) isn’t even remotely surprising, and it’s fairly clear this is the reality. We’ve had the uncertainty of Sensei under Maresca and more recently it was clear Ruud was expecting recruitments in Jan that never materialised as evidence. Add to this PSR calcs and us still carrying high wage players we don’t want and our financial security is definitely built on sand.

Thanks for the insight and appreciate you are relaying information. Dyche bemoaning we didn't offer what Everton did is hilarious, and im glad our club aren't just paying the big bucks for the sake of it now. He was shocking towards the end of his run at Everton, and Moyes completely showed him up. If he thinks that even one of the fringe PL clubs that might be interested in him when they are in trouble will pay the same, then he might be out of the game for a while.

Interestingly, this person isn't a Leicester fan, so wasn't really aware of the warning signs we've seen (e.g. the Sensi situation you mentioned), they were talking about these events in isolation- but it does bulld a picture when you look at everything that's gone on these past few years.

It'll come as a surprise to absolutely nobody that Dyche is apparently a very black and white character, and after a few face to face meetings with the club, he felt he wasn't sure what he'd be signing up for.

Definitely agree with point 1. Rediculous rationale to demand same as he was on at Everton.

Regarding your last point, I agree and judge a manager by how well he can make most of current squad eg Enzo utilizing Jannik. It is a very poorly balanced squad at the minute though.

Could have been that he wanted that wage if he’d got us promoted ????

In truth we have dodged a bullet we are in a precarious position as a club where finances are very limited and we have a number of average players on high wages that need moving on, in reality we need a manager who is happy to work with our talented younger players but also can build a project that potentially utilises players previously looking for the exit.

I know a few posters felt like Dyche was similar to Pearson and the ideal man to rebuild but in truth Dyche is a disciplinarian but in terms of approach he is miles away from Pearson and would have been totally the wrong fit for a club that is going to rely heavily on players such as Nelson, Aluko, Joseph, Page, Alves, Monga, Evans et al.

we have massively dodged a bullet in my opinion and feel Cifentus is much more a project type of appointment like Pearson and Maresca.

No surprise Dyche and his coaches demand more than we’re willing to pay.  He has a point tbh, if you want to pay championship salaries you get championship managers.
