After Rio’s comment last night that only football can create this kind of drama in sport, what’s your favourite from below?

I’ve purposely left out City as it’ll slant the votes

Not sure if posters can add their own choices to the poll. Feel free to do so!

Bloody difficult to pick.

In terms of legacy and unprecedented, I think it has to be between the CWC 2019 and Murray winning Wimbledon. Chose the latter but I'd happily pick both.

Edit: to be honest, the entire 2012 Olympics could be considered a great moment in of itself.

I’m not voting. I can’t pick

Edgbaston was sensational. How tight it was, it being years since we’d won The Ashes. The entire country was captivated

It’s the event that ‘got me’ into cricket itself

Cricket WC? Unbelievable drama. Absolutely outrageous

Stokes at Headingley? What a stand. Absolutely sensational. The crowd, the atmosphere, the shots (watching it on YouTube now)

Medinah- Unbelievable, Poulter is a god

Last Sunday? See above about Rory

I had little interest in the Olympics to be honest.

Murray’s win was unprecedented and had been so long since a British winner

Looking back, it's difficult to believe how much the 2005 ashes gripped the nation. Captured an entire generation, it was mad.

Then the ECB sold the rights to Sky and lost the next generation.

Still absolutely criminal 20 years on. And bad long-term business by Sky too.

Cricket World Cup final was astonishing. I’d always been a casual cricket fan but that had me hooked. The accidental 6, drawing in 50 overs, the super over - nuts

Don't get me wrong, Sky's test coverage was largely superb, but the paywall did untold damage to the popularity of cricket in this country. Now we're left with ridiculous summer schedules and the bloody hundred.

That's almost impossible to choose for me - all great shouts tbh.

But as a golf sicko, I'd have to go for Medina RC as the team moment and Rory on Sunday as individual.

Depends what sports you like, but off that list, what gripped me the most and gave me an adrenaline rush.

Murray winning Wimbledon, followed by Rory completing the Grand Slam.

Without looking at any of the options the first thing that came to my mind was Super Saturday but I can’t actually remember where I was for that and strangely that’s an important factor for me.

Tough between the Ashes ‘05 and the WC ‘19, and that extra 4 runs off Stokes’ dive to get in will forever be etched into my brain but I’m going ashes, just.

Not my intention to open a can of worms. But surely the Miracle at Medinah was a European sporting achievement rather than a British one. And hasn't Rory chosen to represent Ireland rather than GB & NI (well, certainly at the Olympics anyway)?

Cricket really isn't my thing so I don't know what you're all on about.  I have vague recollections of the team turning up drunk at Downing St or something after the Ashes but can't say it particularly gripped me.

The drama of the final lap in Brazil for Hamilton's first championship was great, Andy Murray winning Wimbledon was super-special (an honourable mention to Emma Raducanu winning the US Open), the Rugby in 2003 was awesome (and I'm no rugby fan either).  I think the rugby would have been more special if it wasn't played at 5am or whatever time it was.  It's also the 40th anniversary of that final between Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor, although there won't be many that remember it, it is still talked about.

Chose the 2019 world cup final but close between that and 2012 super Saturday. Was a bit too young and not into cricket enough to fully appreciate the 2005 Ashes.

Headingley was amazing too, 2019 Ben Stokes was superhuman!

Yeah you're right on the Miracle at Medinah being a European rather than British achievement, so I guess that shouldn't really be in the list.

Rory is an interesting one. He always considers himself Northern Irish and is both a citizen of the UK and Ireland, I think.

I understand why he represents Ireland at the Olympics though and I suppose you could say the same about Ulster rugby players playing for Ireland.

I'm certainly no expert on this though and would definitely not want to open that particular can of worms

In terms of sporting drama, that's right up there. 18 million people staying up to watch that past midnight was insane.

He did accept an MBE, and I suspect a knighthood might also be on the way at some point. Like Barry McGuigan before him he is incredibly tactful when addressing the political divide, which can't be easy for him.

I've gone with Stokes's century at Headingley.

By far the best thing i've ever watched a single sportsman do.
