Actually think this bit is the problem - im not 100% convinced he is and could be a very disruptive influence who might need special treatment. Think he had special treatment from us for sometime but because of who he was he got it.

Pretty much every single player that has ever played with him says he's a great bloke.

Yes I've never heard another pro say a bad word about Vardy - apart from Rooney

He comes across as the absolute salt of the earth.

When he played for England I think he was the most popular player with the fans and was liked by the players

Would love to see him turn out in the Champions League one more time, won't lie. Deserves it as a swansong after the career he's had with us, whether he's up to it anymore or not.

Though Celtic are doing their best to throw that away before he gets through the door, couldn't beat Borat FC at home last night and need to go to Kazakhstan and win. lol

Yeah called it, we can chalk that off now :crylaugh:

If I was Newcastle, I’d go for Vardy tbh. I’m not having it that Strand Larsen is any better and they’re prepared to spaff 50 million in his face.

He’d get a much better service than the losers supplying him last year and he’d score tons in that team.

Isak out, Vardy in and re-evaluate next year when they’re not in such a rush. UCL for Jamie, a new hero for the fans. They’ve got the money for wages. It all adds up.

I suggested this to my Geordie mate a while back, would pair well with Barnes too. Seems like a no brainer of a move. They need 2 strikers as they need replace Wilson and Isak. Even if vardy is the Wilson replacement, it’s a no brainer.

Could genuinely see him ending up at Newcastle at this rate in all fairness.

He could do really well in Italy. I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if he signed a one year deal and then ended up at a bigger Italian club the year after.

I really hope he gets another roll of the dice. He's good enough. He's not what he was but he is enough.

The Man U rumours made perfect sense. They needed - and still need - an elder statesman in their team. Similar to the role Defoe played in his latter years.

I find it so strange nobody has looked at him and thought he's worth a year. Man U, Newcastle, West Ham, Brighton. All make sense.

For his sakes I hope he ends up either at Celtic to win trophies or at a team in Europe.

I'm a little surprised too although we don't really know what his expectations are with regards to wages and playing time. I thought he'd be ideal as an impact option off the bench for a Premier League team like the ones you mention but I'm not sure whether he's the sort of person who'd be happy not starting games regularly even at his age. It might be that after a summer where he's perhaps been able to relax a bit more and not have to think about returning to training, preparing for another season etc. he's less bothered about getting a move unless it perfectly suits him and his family.

I wonder if he will end up retiring because without a preseason at 38 I wonder if he will wain slightly quicker - I wonder if we have offered him a route back - be a real shame if he does not have a final swansong !

The ideal would have been him retiring wouldn't it?

On the cusp of joining newly promoted Cremonese according to the Italian press. Quite strange really

A short hop to Lake Garda or Milan, worse places to pick up your last paycheque

Very bizarre to me, that a team here or abroad hasn’t signed him on a free?

His wages aren’t going to be insignificant for.a 38 y o (apparently he wants around 40k/week and I’ve no idea re s/o fee)

At 38, he’s not viewed as a zlatan level player. His record for us last season wasn’t good enough to make him a no brainer signing.

id be surprised if he did particularly well in serie A but he could be quite a decent influence in the dressing room for them.

Yep and only a couple of hours from the coast too.
