A move that suits him. He’ll still bag in Scotland and it’ll make the 17 old firm’s this season more worth watching.

Even with 50k+ average crowds and Champions League revenue most seasons, Celtic are somewhat less generous with player wages than we've been.

They'd probably only offer JV about £30k/week max.

But if that's the only offer he has, he'll have a decision to make.

It'll be a guaranteed Scottish League winners medal and he'll bag lots of goals, a slow winding down of his playing carrier as let's face it not much of a challenge!. A final big payday before he retires.

Begs the question, why didn’t we offer him £30k a week.

Think he mentioned the mental toll that being part of another relegation took on him as part of the reason he's leaving. Might have been his decision as much as ours.

If I was him I'd go to Celtic. Big club, big ground, big fanbase, score lots of goals, play in Champions League, play in Old Firm games, win a league title and possible domestic trophies too. All at 38 years of age.

Be interesting to see how he gets on winding opposition players and fans up in Scotland though. Always seems a lot more intense than our Country.

Translation: it’s a complete shit show and I want gone.

Earning £30k a week there, being the highest paid player in the squad isn't the same as earning £30k a week here and being on less the Booby Soumare and Jordan Ayew...

Some of our fans must be completely delusional believing this Celtic joke of a team has any quality to compete in CL. Even Cypriot football is 2x classes above Scottish nowadays.

Who said compete? Everyone said he will play in CL, which he will as Celtic are in it.

Whilst I don't disagree they don't have enough quality, they did only narrowly get knocked out by a good Bayern side last season.

They might not be. They drew 0-0 to the Kazakh champions at home last night.

That's true. And they were at home. I'm sure they'll be fine though.
