Box to box might not be the best description but he was certainly getting forward far more under Enzo than we'd seen before.

Absolutely agree.  Enzo made him move. What disgusts me more is how terrible he is at passing; at this level it's simply unacceptable. It's tough to pick who our worst field player is, at this point.

Seemed to be concrete interest for him in January and a mooted release clause in his renewed contract signed last summer. That figure is likely to be different to the relegation release clause. So if Atletico for example wanted him in January but weren't willing to pay his release clause (higher than £9m) maybe them or another club would be back interested for a lower amount.

I'm confident someone will activate that.

Wish I shared your optimism!

I think we would be lucky to get a fee for him.

What is encouraging is that there is a lot of noise around departures, key we move some of these lads on. As for Ndidi, he's been superb for us but the time is right to allow him to move on.

Personally think his role last season was over-rated, he did a reasonable job of what Enzo asked of him and was our 'best' option but we'd have been better if we'd upgraded him.

Enzo drilled him into doing one thing correctly, running into the space created in the box with the overload and crossing across the goal for KDH to nod in.

He has been shocking at everything this season.  He moves constantly but doesn’t tackle, can’t pass and can’t shoot. Since Ruud his short passing between Soumare and the cbs has been just as bad.

£9m for a 28 year old that has played roughly 200 Premier League games and 30 games in Europe. I think that there will be a team or two that would see that as good business. All depends on his wages really.

He could easily revive his career elsewhere.

If Wilf is 28 so am I!

He's awful I'd take the money. £9m when this time last year nobody wanted him for free.

Nobody would pay him what we would.

Thats different

But sadly also part of the predicament we find ourselves in. Amazing 4 years ago but nowhere near that level anymore. Been clinging on to these type for too long.

I’m still not having it mate

There are probably 10 players you could shift on who are worse, more problematic, or who’ve never shown the levels Wilf can reach, before you get to Wilf himself.

Two thing with any player really, their value as a player to the team and their value as an asset to the club, and if the latter overtakes the former, time go cash in.

He's be great for a just promoted club played in the right role. 9 m is a steak for someone with experience. He's 28 too. So in his prime.

This feels like a joint club / agent article to get interest...which is good to see to be honest. We need more.

I think it's more that his time at Leicester had a shelf life than his career.

The culture here is rotten and there's no professionalism. Don't be surprised to see the old Wilf once he gets into a proper dressing room. The same as Tielemans.

Still think his decline is one of our main reasons for our initial fall off. He was the glue under Rodgers in the better years. Fell off some time around 2021/22.

But it’s more agent-led noise, than actually anything about other clubs being interested

Rodgers went from using him at what he was best at and decided to make him play in a way that didn't suit him. 4 1 4 1 he was beautiful. When it moved it a 4 2 3 1 and he was asked to play with the ball more, it was no surprise to see a man that struggles to play football have performance levels decline.

Having him next to Soumare is tough on him as well. May as well be in there by himself.

It's difficult when you watch us to know which of the two is bringing the other down.  We know Wilf has some ability so it's fair he gets the benefit of the doubt but as others have said, bar some performances last season under Enzo, he's been pretty ropey for a while now.
