This just gives people an excuse to moan when he does not go for a fantasy figure. The fee Petrovic has gone for is a fair comparator. Maybe £5m less up front as we aren't in as strong negotiating position but with add ons and a % sell on should be up to £25m. 1
DezFox Posted 26 July 2025 Posted 26 July 2025 I think regardless of what keepers have gone for in the past. 25 with a couple of add ons is fair for a keeper that is Brilliant with his feet and has a couple of teams chasing. Mads is on par with Petrovic and also more proven. Not to mention more important to us then he was to Chelsea with their 9 keepers. Anything below 25 is poor from us.

Seems on the upper end due to the weak position you mention, but fair enough.

JimJams Posted 26 July 2025 Posted 26 July 2025 It's not buyback per se, Man City have a clause that they get priority if they match any fee offered, and that's what Newcastle offered.

Tielemans63 Posted 26 July 2025 Posted 26 July 2025 IF the (likely bullshit) rumour is true regarding interest from West Ham and Newcastle, he'd be far better off ignoring the bright lights of London and heading up to Newcastle. Better club, better manager, better fans....West Ham are such a nothing club in my opinion. 1
JimJams Posted 26 July 2025 Posted 26 July 2025 I'd be a little surprised if Newcastle were in for him though. I know they're in the market for a keeper, but that's largely because Pope can never stay fit, so given Mads record last year you'd think they might be wary.

Not bothered which he goes to, so long as we get the best fee we can (we won't).

PSR doing its job and forcing smaller clubs to cash in on players like this. Pre psr, no way he leaves. Try to remember a promoted club selling a top player prior to psr, simply never happened
LCFCJohn Posted 27 July 2025 Posted 27 July 2025 6 hours ago, Muzzy_no7 said: English tax or not Hermansen is a better goalkeeper and footballer What are you basing this on? Trafford’s Championship season he had 29 clean sheets, won the golden glove and had a save percentage of 84.5%. Hermansen had 13 clean sheets, was nowhere near the golden glove and had a save percentage down at 78%. Neither has great numbers for the Premier League seasons but Trafford has 2 clean sheets to Hermansen’s 1 and a slightly higher save percentage. Trafford’s numbers for distribution appear better from a quick look. I personally don’t think there is that much in them but the numbers would suggest Trafford is a better goalkeeper and both are good on the ball. When you take into account Trafford is younger and home grown, as well as a better fitness record, it’s easy to understand why he would go for me. 2
Claudio Fannieri Posted 27 July 2025 Posted 27 July 2025 Unfortunately that is one of the impacts of relegation, as we saw with both Barnes and Maddison, relegation does have a negative impact to transfer fees, hence why now it’s more likely we end up with circa £20m + add ons from West Ham, our only hope now is Newcastle gazump the offer.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 27 July 2025 Posted 27 July 2025 Noting Areola’s performance yesterday, we should probably be demanding at least a couple more million now 😂
NewquayFox Posted 27 July 2025 Posted 27 July 2025 It will probably be £17.5 million with an extra add on of £2.5 million if West Ham win the treble…
FrankieADZ Posted 27 July 2025 Posted 27 July 2025 if WHU want £30mil for Pequeta then i think we should be looking for a bit more than £20mil and a sell on clause too
