Exactly this. Just shows how much of a weaker position we are being run by this lot. Getting relegated is one disadvantage, adding PSR and John rudkin in the mix it makes it impossible.

Yep, sell. Good Keeper, but the one position where we could make good money to prevent other sales, and still have a replacement lined up, without affecting overall team effectiveness

Anything less than 35m is a failure from us.

Everyone knows we are in a weak position in this negotiation, we aren’t getting £35m.

Ideally we would like £35m, but our position is weakened on a lot of fronts and others will know this so will low ball. 

 

Who would pay £35m for a keeper that the club can afford to let go as they feel they have a suitable replacement, struggling to stay in PSR rules and that has been relegated?? We need a bit of realism from others of our situation. £20m+ is probably more like it, which is cheap, but not a bad return considering. 

 

Petrovic is a completely different scenario, unfortunately.

Petrovic is a completely different scenario, unfortunately. 

He is not at this moment a 35m keeper, he’s slightly injury prone and he’s had a 2nd half of season drop off twice.

He could well develop into one but at this moment way off. 20 + 3 a/o plus a sell on is about right IMHO

I can see the deal around the 20 million mark, which I recon is about fair after the second half of the season Mads had.

 

Really?  I don't know much about him other than he barely played for Chelsea, spent time in the MLS and a loan at Strasbourg.  Mads pre injury was keeping us in every premier league game under Cooper with worldie saves game to game, and is very comfortable with his feet (the modern game) - he's proven he can do it in the PL and cope with the pressure.  Add to that he's exactly what Potter wants/needs, which adds value as there aren't many in the market with his proven skillset.  Maybe I just need to watch more European football to comment, but I feel like we're often too quick to play down some of our players.

He's had 1 season at PL level and struggled in the second half of it. His form since Christmas will have reduced his value, regardless whether he was carrying an injury or not.

I know what you mean regarding playing them down, as I really rate Hermansen, but below is the season that Petrovic has just had, which is ahead what Hermansen has done at Leicester.

 

Petrovic was voted RC Strasbourg Player of the season. Also second in ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the season.

 

According to FotMob, he is the highest rated goalkeeper in Europe's top five leagues in 2024/25.

 

Petrovic kept 10 clean sheets in the French top tier last season. Only one keeper, Lille's Lucas Chevalier (11), kept more shutouts. 

 

The Serbia international recorded the second-best save percentage in Ligue 1 last season: 78%. 

 

Petrovic out-performed his post-shot xG by +9.9 last season. Petrovic conceded 38 Ligue 1 goals, but the xG metric states that he 'should' have conceded 45.9 goals based on the quality of the shots he faced. 

 

Petrovic ranked third in Ligue 1 last season for defensive actions OUTSIDE of his penalty area, with 47. 

 

Petrovic led all Ligue 1 goalkeepers with 1,117 successful passes. 


Most Touches: He also topped the charts for total touches by a goalkeeper with 1,736. 


Passing Accuracy: While not the most accurate, his passing accuracy was still a respectable 78.8%. 


Touches in a Single Match: Petrovic recorded a record-breaking 79 touches in a match against Rennes, with 64 successful passes, demonstrating his comfort and ability to distribute the ball.

The only reason we should sell Mads is if we then reinvest in a striker (loan with option/obligation would be a terrible decision). I t would be a bonus if there’s then money left over for a CB.

Mads value went down also based of his performances in the second half of the season last year, regardless whether he was injured or not, other clubs will see a decline in performances.

 

he’s also had time out during the season, both seasons he’s been with us.

Surely the Mads sale is needed just to make ends meet? If selling Mads means we keep BEK then thats one of the best investments we can make. We will need to be getting rid of the deadwood before buying yet another CB.

He has already had 2 injuries with us, recurring as well, and our number 2 is good enough, I would let him go if a reasonable offer is made, what is reasonable I dont know, but I think 15-20m would be enough to take him.

Good shot stopper and brilliant with his feet. Could be a bit more commanding of his box I suppose.

 

Not sure why you're baulking at him being worth that tbh - I'd say £35m isn't too far off his value.

Let's not underrate this guy. He's a superb goalkeeper and has all the attributes teams want in a modern goalkeeper. We need to get as much money as we can for him.

I think given that Jakob is set to be our number 1 there’s not a scenario where he doesn’t leave. Our backs are against the wall here so I trying we’ll see him leave for around 20m. Not a good deal but I’d be very surprised if we would risk not bringing in anything at this stage
