Even down to working abroad line - and his style being non-British. He actually has certain values that I think we need, especially concerning the development of younger players, he has solid history of this at Swansea too, as well as Southampton. I actually think a move abroad would be a wise move for him, stick him in a lesser league with a team who has always dominated possession, he could do well. I’ve said on here before, heavy possession is all well and good in the Championship, it’s shown to be a good formula to get you out the league, but if Martin came to us and achieved that, the question will always be, what next? His style of play just doesn’t translate in the Premier League for a newly promoted team, you have to have a 10/10 transfer window to make it potentially work imo. 1

I actually think he, like Dyche, would be the most likely to get us straight back up from the Championship. But, he would have to get really lucky in the transfer market to bring players in that could make that same style work in the Premier League against far superior opposition. I think he would do better than he did with Southampton, but still fall well short. I think even Dyche would now struggle to bridge that gap too, even with his completely opposite approach. I think if we do go for either Martin or Dyche, then it is short-sightedness from Top and Rudkin, but understandable from a purely short-term financial stance of getting back to Premier League riches at the first chance.
Fox85 Posted 23 May 2025 Posted 23 May 2025 Surprised this is still open tbh. I think that there is more of a chance that we don't face a points deduction than him coming here. Blatant agent talk. Dyche is the man coming to the Leicester job. 1
Saxondale Posted 23 May 2025 Posted 23 May 2025 What the frig is thread all about? I’m a late comer here. Why do people think this clown is coming to Leicester?

It’s just going to be the same case as two summers ago. The promotion experienced Scott Parker vs the imaginative gamble Enzo Maresca. This time around it feels like Martin or Dyche vs Rohl or maybe someone out of the blue. The board went for the fresh gamble two years ago, but it would be very easy for them to go for Martin or Dyche, especially after seeing what the likes of Farke, Parker and Wilder have achieved this season. Even though they’ll be numerous squad changes, if they want to return to some continuity, then unfortunately Martin is probably the strongest candidate that is currently available and realistic. When younger talent is concerned, you never know what to expect from Dyche, while Martin has far more substance in that category. If his style of play wasn’t so nauseating, you could make a stronger case for Martin over Dyche imo. Ideally though, I hope it’s neither. 3

I fully expect to see HMS Piss The League making another voyage, regardless of who is manager. I’ll maybe reserve my judgement on that before understanding what the points deductions, embargo’s and forced sales look like. Starting on minus points and being 8th in October while possibly trying to rebuild an entire squad could be a huge challenge, so I’d take it. 1

It is very unlikely we would get forced player sales or transfer embargos in the summer. Whilst we very well might get a points deduction for failing psr last time we were in the championship, the transfer embargo and business plan (forced sales) is meant to stop clubs from failing ffp not used as punishment for it. Therefore it's possible this could happen to us but wouldn't come into force until December when we su mit our accounts and it looks as if we are on track to fail. So in summary as I understand the rules (I could be wrong and happy to be corrected) whereas we could get a transfer embargo and business plan forced upon us this wouldn't happen until january 1 1

My point still stands though, if we get as big of a rebuild as we need with the potential points deduction it could be a struggle. Interesting question, would you rather have pretty much the same team and be top of the league, or rebuild a team which shows promise and potential but sit in 8th? 1
