Quite the opposite, he's the EXACT manager Top and co would appoint and the evidence of that is so clear to us:

1. We are fake Man City.

2. Possession based football since Puel, Rodgers, then Enzo.

3. Scouting, coaches, players all set up and built around the idea of possession and control being a club philosophy.

4. First team coach is Barry Brian-Murphy.

Its what the club wants.. yeah sections of the fanbase are tired of it and want a change but it's not what the club want - we're not the only ideological club with this.

Id argue, as I've said above, that Martin is actually part of the long term plan with the club philosophy in mind. It would be short termism to do something like.. hire Steve Cooper, for instance.

Its the fact it's so obvious that seems to frustrate a lot of us because there's planet of managers who want to dominate but with more vigor and energy.

i dunno if your trolling or what but the 3 managers you said are alot better than Martin in every respect imo,

as for our scouting coaches players etc, well that is very very iffy, as frankly a good number of them are frankly not doing their job well enough

and you forget another bullet point: no compensation, because well the club is tight as a ducks arse and would rather spunk compensation money on 30+yr old wingers

Nobody is suggesting that, he's a useless **** but Martin hasn't even joined and is being written off, it's pathetic. Wouldn't be my first choice but we are where we are and we still have the same joke of a board, no money and incoming points deductions. Who are you expecting to take this dream job?

image.gif.1f7732084701a2cfca3099a878d5ea66.gif

Aside from all that, Top…I’d expect a good up and coming manager to want to join us. You know, the kind we’ve done our due diligence on, research into tactics, man management style, references from those who’ve worked with him, even fan opinions from clubs he’s managed.

You’re speaking as if we need the manager to be established. We don’t, he can be someone looking for a big break. Loads of managers would want to come here to forge a reputation. Loads. What matters is, do they have a good philosophy and right character.

That’s how Pearson and Walsh used to scout players - it’s how we should scout managers.

really? Not seen anyone say they want him. A handful saying he may still get us promoted though. He seems a overwhelmingly unpopular choice. He will need a very good start, as it will get very toxic if not.

Jury’s definitely out and understandably so given his record In PL this season & potential long winded/slow playing style,

Southampton really struggled at the start last season and they got better and better as the season went on - the problem being here he won’t have the fanbases patience if he gets off to a sub-par start!

One potential positive is it looks like he’ll get a whole Summer and pre-season and hopefully one more local than in previous years!!

He threw 18yo Dibling into PL football this season so hopefully he’d be as brave with our youth which is key to the next appointment!
Have to back the youth and give them opportunities!!

It sounds like he won’t adapt away from his plan A and will just try to make it better, we can just hope that in the time taken out of the game he’s had time to tweak elements of his plan else we’re in for a long watch for 46 games!

What the F**K is wrong with Top & Rudkin ???

How can they be so out of touch with the club.

There were people in positions of power much worse than these two. Take Nicholas II or Emperor Hirohito, for example.

But then again, Top is not the King of Siam and Rudkin is not a PM...yet.

The state of this post, please explain how a few thousand people singing "sack the board" is going to make any ****ing difference. The board isnt going anywhere unfortunately and there is nothing we can realistically do about it unless literally everyone stops going to matches, which will never happen. Leicester fans have absolutely become self entitled, Russell Martin is not the problem here, if we hired Pep people would still find a negative.

Give over, self entitled? How exactly? I again reiterate this is exactly the mindset that will allow King Power to continue to kill the club….. what’s self entitled about generating more money than any club of our size to not only piss it away, but manage to breach PSR in the process? What’s entitled about demanding those responsible be held accountable…….

By actively showing our displeasure at frankly disgusting rumours like Russell Martin is the only way this board may get the message. Top is making hideous decision after hideous decision, and his backing band of Rudkin and Whelan are just as culpable….. appointing Russel Martin would be a disaster…. Especially with how fragile this club currently is….

Nothing will change if fans sit on their hands in silence, chanting out against the board, and poor decisions is the only way they may start to get the message.

Staying silent is simply being complicit in their destruction of the club.

Can see it now. When it gets toxic in the KP and the snooze fest hits breaking point, Top will be shaking his head at all those fans that warned him.

It absolutely blows my mind the number of people that managed to watch us all year under Enzo and not actually understand what his football was.

I've said a thousand times (and I'll die on this hill) that the problem is less 'Enzoball' and the fact that everybody wanted to park the bus against us.

All of that "messing around at the back" is bait, it's trying to draw the opposition out and on to you so that you can beat the press and attack quickly behind them.

Spend one minute on the Chelsea forums and see what they say about Enzo ball. It’s a mirror image to this forum during our last championship campaign. They hate his football period.

Not a single pundit on talksport who is a Chelsea fan has anything complimentary to say about his style of football which I have on in the background in the office every day. He’s universally hated by his own fans. You could say he’s greatly underachieved with what he’s had at his disposal.

We would have been battered this season playing out from the back just as Southampton were under Martin at the start of the season, mostly conceding from suicidal passing in their own box.

Teams did park the bus yes but 9/10 times we let them. When we did attack and had the man advantage, we’d always go back and let the opposition get reorganised through slow buildup play and passing back when we were in dangerous positions if the perfect pass wasn’t available. We literally tried to score the perfect goal each time.

Ironically it was the home game against Southampton when enzo ball was ditched supposedly by the players and we suddenly looked good and ended that dreadful run.

Having met Enzo on a few occasions, it’s clear to see he has a certain aura about him and I think his man management plays a big role in any success he has. He’s a very likeable guy (outside of the media). This is the one and only positive I can see in appointing Martin as he’s obviously a likeable person like Enzo.

Due to Enzo ball, I spent that season under Enzo “working from the stadium”. It gave me a chance to clear emails and do reports during the match. Martin is another stubborn manager who treats the beautiful game as a chess match and has no plan b.

Let’s be honest, virtually any manager would’ve got us up that last season in the championship with our squad and Martin most probably will do too (points deduction pending) if he’s appointed, but that doesn’t gloss over the fact this style of football is useless when you meet your match.

But to say Enzo would’ve had us playing fast paced counter attacking football this season is laughable and pure fantasy.

People on here saying our squad was built for Enzo ball and appointing Martin will be an easy transition are also having a laugh. We struggled in the championship playing out from the back with this squad and got away with so many mistakes due to the lack of quality opposition. Vestergaard and Winks made countless errors which went unoticed which we would’ve been punished for big time in the prem.

The club is a bloody shambles if they think Martin’s the answer. Another short term unimaginative appointment. There’s no doubt Rudkin is trolling us at this point!

This will be super interesting, Enzo actually managed the crowd pretty well last season. Focused on the UFS whilst making it clear he wouldn't change.

I worry RM gets too emotional post match and will struggle to fix divisions

Can the club seriously not attract anyone better than this guy?  His time at Southampton does not instil any confidence

This is exactly how it will go unfortunately. Which is why I cant see it being anything other than a disaster of an appointment.

I worry he becomes the lightning rod for frustrations that should be aimed at Rudkin and Top. Sounds like that's already happened with chants and Bournemouth.

Would I appoint him? No. But back him and voice frustrations at the board
