I’m not looking forward to RM and has philosophy but take the emotion out of it and I kind of understand the appointment. 
let’s assume that we will not have money to spend and besides a few obvious departures the squad largely stays the same…

there’s a manager available, for free, wants to come, and plays a style of football that this squad was essentially assembled to play, and managed it with success. Kind of makes sense?

 

that said, football is emotional and the thought of slogging through a season with more tippy gappy round the back nonsense does not fill me with excitement. But as for people having one eye on a return to the premier league, I think we should park that and worry about it if/when happens. I don’t believe for a minute we’re facing back to back relegations like others have suggested (give your heads a wobble) but I thinking we’re going to walk the league is naive. Although hope I’m wrong!

It’s got to the point where I don’t care who the manager is. Until Rudkin is removed and the boardroom changes required are made, the managerial appointment is pointless. 
 

They will be promised the world as the previous managers, not given the full story and not backed as they will be told they will

martin had 3 less wins than Enzo last year with a Southampton squad way worse than ours and went 20 unbeaten at one point 

 

time will tell and I could be wrong obviously but there is every chance he gets us playing some lovely stuff and right up the top of the league next year 

 

we need to be really careful what we wish for at this point - experiments with some of the names touted on here with putting youth first could easily see us do a Luton and nobody wants that 

 

Martin will blood the young talent we have alongside our experienced players that fit his style - which is most of our squad btw - which we don’t have the money to change on mass 

 

I don’t see any miracles in regards to the hierarchy but let’s stop taking this seasons frustrations out on the next manager before he has a chance to show what he can do

If slow, turgid, mind numbing 56 passes all around your own 18 Yd box (inviting needless pressure) with little to no intent to actively go forward, and also ostracising our own wingers is your bag, and you genuinely enjoy watching that sh1t, then fill your boots mate.  Because that's what we will get.

 

Appointing Martin will also saddle us with another egotistical A-Hole in the same mold as Rodger's,  who at the first sign of trouble will most probably go into "brand of Martin preservation mode".

 

Do you really want someone like that representing the club when interviewed,  spouting excuses as to why we lost 1-Nil in a passing borefest wherw in turn we never looked like scoring ourselves, all due to his tactics and team selection, hell bent on sticking to his "philosophy"

 

We had to suffer the same sh1t with Rodger’s, playing "possession football'  and guess what, it got us relegated with a far better squad than we have now. 

 

So Russell Martin.....No thanks.

It does. I suspect the owners' view is that we were on a certain trajectory with Enzo and that when he left we made a mistake in going in a different direction with Cooper. They probably see Martin as the best way to return to our previous trajectory and get the most out of the players we have. There is some logic in it, but the glaring fact of Martin's catastrophic attempt to get Southampton to play like Man City in the PL would put most owners off. Possibly not ours, though.

Change is desperately needed but wont happen.

Shameful that Aiyawatt hasn't spoken to Ruud. Regardless of whether you want him to go or not, to leave him in the lurch is pathetic and shows the deeply unprofessional attitude of this board. They aren't football people. They don’t understand that the image of the club isn’t like building an image of a business. They're far too emotional and stubborn. They put their own thoughts and feelings above what is right.

Ironically, Enzo is the topic on talksport now and every Chelsea fan calling in is wanting him gone including the host Sam Matterface who’s a massive Chelsea fan and lets be honest “he knows what he’s on about”. Even Pardew is questioning his baffling philosophy.

 

Alex Crook summed it up, most Leicester fans weren’t sad to see him leave. There was even a thread on here calling for him to be sacked when we were top of the league.

 

As I mentioned earlier, you’re living in a pure Disney world if you expected fast counter attacking football from Enzo in the prem. Deluded!

The only one who’s been emotional about it is ruud mentioning it in every press conference.

If they proceed with employing him after the songs yesterday then the disconnect between the club leadership and the fans will be amplified greatly.

The problem isn't slow, possession football. There is a time and a place for it and we have seen that the likes of Enzo and Martin can be successful with it. 

 

The problem is, when you can't or won't deviate from it when you need to. My biggest issue with Enzo was that when his philosophy wasn't working, his answer was to keep trying it and we got away with it more than once purely down to the fact that we had more quality than most. That's why I was worried about the prospect of the EPL under him. The gap in quality wasn't in our favour and he hadn't shown the ability or desire to switch it up when he needed to. Russell Martin is the same in this respect. Plan A is slow, possession, technical football and plan B is more of plan A. 

 

It doesn't matter what brand of football a manager prefers. That style won't always work and that's when they really earn their money. Being able to adapt and overcome what the opposition are doing when it's not going well IS the job.
