More good news for wind power

I was being light hearted, sorry I touched a nerve lol.

He dominates the news, unfortunately. Look at this thread, every day there are posts on something that Trump and/or his administration have done/commented on, and it just seems to get worse and he's the centre of it. World is messed up at the moment. This isn't a criticism of this thread, it's just the way things are in the world now, sadly.

Other important news just gets pushed back, unfortunately, not just this thread but in general.

Fair enough

(Long post alert)

1. Trump has been pursuing isolationist policies for some time.

2. He's also been mooting the US pulling out of NATO for a good while. He wants Greenland, the territory of a NATO ally and the use of military action cannot be ruled out whatever Trump says. He cannot be trusted. He says one thing one minute and the opposite thing the next.

Starting a war unilaterally - without seeking the support of allies until it had been started - and then accusing NATO allies of not doing enough to support them is evidence of both of these things.

But it isn't just US allies that he isn't consulting. It's Congress itself, which should be ratifying decisions like this that take the US to war. Congress has done no such thing.

He is doing what he likes. His moves have enriched himself and his friends since the beginning of his second administration. The war in Iran is no different, with anonymous gamblers winning millions betting on the price of oil. Just today, it is alleged that Pete Hegseth's broker attempted to invest millions in defence stock before the war began.

This US administration is primarily concerned with financial self-interest and distraction from the Epstein Files.

More insults about the UK have been uttered by Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump today. Before the war started, he also insulted our dead, injured and others who served alongside US troops when he alleged that our troops - along with those of other nations - stayed away from the frontline. If we had followed the US and Israel in lockstep, you'd better believe he'd find another reason to insult us.

He has no interest other than his own. No sense of co-operation or diplomacy. No compulsion for give and take. He just does what he wants and attacks the people who criticise and disagree.

If NATO is done, then we'd better divest away from the US sooner rather than later, building closer ties with the EU and either reforming NATO (or creating a new organisation) without the US, strengthening ties with our real allies who believe in collective defence of common interests rather than demanding obedience in atrocities that have not obtained legal clearance.

With Trump as President, regardless of whether we had followed him to the letter in this war, Europe - and by extension the UK - is being squeezed from the East and the West. We need allies and the reparation of our relations with the EU, a collective defence strategy and a divestment away from fossil fuels.

If we start making these moves, perhaps this may push Trump towards the exit door of the White House, too, as voters in the upcoming midterms see the rest of the world turning their backs on Trump's MAGA cult. If his power can be curtailed for the second half of his presidency, hopefully a non-MAGA candidate can win the next presidential election and begin to repair the US's relationships with the rest of the world.

Erudite, thank you.

The only big hope, such as it is, is that given things move so quickly politically these days, when he and his lackeys do lose power (and may that day come soon before more harm is caused) the ideology he represents is quickly kicked into the long grass for a very, very long time - preferably for good.

He represents all the worst, individualistic, knuckle-dragging, Might Makes Right, worst sentiments of our species, and quite apart from that being morally abhorrent, it also practically leads to no good end for us all.

Also, closer to home, I wonder just how most of the staff at the Daily Mail feel, working for a paper currently following an editorial line blatantly in support of a foreign leader and the death of a great many people, both directly against the better interests of the UK.

Nonsense, what you can't stand is your beloved trump and fellow right winger is being relentlessly shown up on here to be a total idiot.

Its like you've said no, enough is enough leave my hero alone.

Tells us all we need to know.

The right defends the right.

Manuel Franco will be back on here soon to back you up.

What I want to say will get me banned. I don’t know who you are; never noticed your posts before - but you’ve got the wrong end of the stick here - everyone else can see my post was not in support of Trump, but you’ve jumped on that point - even mentioned Farage lol

Get a grip man I’m bowing out of this so we can keep the thread free to talk about Trump more!

It is a bit dry talking about Trump 24/7.  Can't we just go back to moaning about Starmer?

You can either moan about 1 or the other it seems, but the orange bloke is considerably more funny imho

And, as much as people would like to moan about Starmer, the harm Trump is causing is almost certainly more apparent, further reaching and longer lasting, to everyone. Including folks in the UK.

He’s hilarious . We are supposed to accept him as at least knowing a bit about property development and architectural style and his $hiity ballroom looks like it was based Ona sketch by a 9 year old with missing doors and staircases going nowhere

Same as they did in 1939 I guess.

When will people stop flying/driving to the US?

It pisses me off that fellow Canadians go there. I recognize the tight economies, family on both sides of the border etc but get a fukin back bone for your country and take one's for the team. The guy is literally shagging all of our economies and a lot of people seem to be okay with that.

People, stop supporting these vvankers!

And yes, selfish post. I recognize it's a deep thing and business travel can be required etc but well....yaaaaaa

I'm going in 3 weeks. It was booked before Trump was elected again. I'd hoped that they wouldn't be that stupid twice. And, whilst we avoid his states while in California and Washington state, we are unfortunately, going to some Trump supporting areas in Miami and Alaska. But, we finish with a trip over the border up to you.

I'm not sure how much I'm looking forward to it, in the current situation.

If the US did leave NATO, I don’t think Europe would have any choice but to comprehensively sit down with Russia and change the whole security architecture, unfortunately to their advantage. Or else you’d just end up in an immediate war against a country with 5000 nuclear weapons. American nukes are the one thing that’s prevented that since the 1940’s. Likewise economically we would have to get much closer to China and places like India.

If he did it now, it would be interesting to know whether the 2028 winner would reverse it. However you cannot possibly be in a situation where you flip flop in and out of massive security bodies every four years.

i don’t think Trump will pull out, and I think it’ll bizarrely keep some stability in Europe as everyone will be too scared to do anything. But he’ll keep threatening and threatening until he leaves office.

Trump is making an address to the American people this evening - TACO time ???

problem is today’s date - how will we know what’s real?    Mind you, much of what he says seems like an April fools joke …….

2 minutes taking about how he has won the war again for the 12th time in 4 weeks and then 3 hours talking about how he’s going to sue the judge for not letting him build his ballroom bunker that he wants to hide in for the rest of his life

Can anyone explain to me in a way that I can hopefully understand why this guy was investigated and cleared of being a nonce, but was allowed to have a very well paying role in the BBC for years, yet someone like Mason Greenwood, who was investigated and cleared was practically hounded out of the country?

Where's the consistency?

This time of garbage is driving me more and more insane. I've got a family member serving years in the slammer, the only evidence against him was a story someone decided to tell. I know for a fact he didn't do what he's been convicted of, but we don't have the tens of thousands of pounds needed to fight it, or the "famous" clout to somehow be immune to laws.

Sick to death of this crap tbh. I know the world isn't meant to be fair, but the entire system is broken.

People at the BBC have a mass bubble wrap of protection until the last minute, don't forget.

Doesn't matter. Just one nuke in the air is the end of the world anyway, alliances or no.

Copied this from a different tweet:

Britain only has 4 operational nuclear missile submarines. Labour Together MP Joani Reid, the Red Princess whose husband David Taylor has been arrested over allegations of spying for China, has been accused of improper behaviour with the Captains of two (50%) of these vital boats

Not to make light of a serious issue, but can't help make me think of the "Belgrano Sisters" from Max & Paddy.
