How will Top be remembered?

I'm disgusted by how he's run the club over the last few years and think it's definitely time for him to move on but I will always have a huge amount of gratitude for what he and Vichai (mainly Vichai) have done for us as a club. I have some sympathy for him as I feel his been rocketed into a position he didn't expect to be in anytime soon. He just isn't cut out for it sadly

For balance 

 

he never wanted to be chairman he inherited it 

 

he never professed to being a great leader again he had to do it (badly)

 

We have to reflect that his fathers death changed his whole life 

 

he has been a huge disaster in the role here at LCFC but we have to mitigate for the horrid circumstances he had to take over in 

 

I believe next season will be his last year as Chair 

 

His father gave us memories to cherish for our whole lives 

 

TOP sadly failed to maintain his fathers drive and vision

I know we are all fed up and worried about the direction of the club etc. It does though seem a new thread has to opened simply to give even more negativity and despondent vibes for the sake of it

I think that's harsh, I don't think he's done well at all and think he dosent know what he's doing but I don't think ge is lazy or dosen't care he just dosen't know how to change it and has trusted the wrong people.

 

So incompetentant - probably

How many years did he have under his father with two football clubs ?

 

Now sit young Top down and ask him about:

 

1. upcoming managers;

2. Directors of football;

3. CEO with football experience:

4. PSR;

5. modern scouting;

6. Modern coaching;

etc. etc.

 

If you put yourself at the top of the tree. Crave the accolades when it goes right. Encourage post game videos calling you the leader. You bloody better lead. 
 

He can’t change it. He’s being led by at least two (perhaps more) imbeciles because he didn’t take on his apprenticeship properly. For that reason, I class him as lazy. You get what you put in and in life that is golden.

I do think the damage has been done already.  
 

we all wanted him to flourish but he just isn’t qualified and isn’t taking accountability.  In many ways if he was terrible but was actively working on improving things, I think we’d be willing to support him through it but we simply haven’t had that learning journey. 
 

he doesn’t care to repair the connection with the fans either and that’s the worst thing about it all. It’s a feeling that we are meaningless to him and maybe even the club is, it’s just a shiny toy he can show off to his friends to make him look cool.

If its the former then without him there is no KP and the domino effect of the success that followed.

 

If its the latter, then he'll be remembered as Vichai's son who ultimately failed to lead us in the long term. I dont hate the guy but I do want someone else to lead us at this stage.

Considering he wanted to buy Reading first, I'm gonna say media bullshit

I think you are nostalgic in a way most people are on this forum so happy to take pelters. Again I love Pearson, and again think his tenure was one of the key foundations for our success. Just don't like the 'Pearson's project' point.

 

On the point of the topic, Top is so clearly out his depth it is painful to watch. His lack of learning and apathy to the concern of fans is what I will remember. But the main point is that he was there when the luck ran out lol.

 

Now sell us to someone more suited to club ownership please.

Pearson and his team set up a football club to operate seamlessly. Experts in every area which lead to an effortless operation. It was no surprise, that eventually that would result in some success. If every asset of the club is functioning as it should, then you’ll get the right people in to do the right jobs, and that leads to the right results. The PL victory was all of this coming together at the right time when the rest of the league fell off.

 
Puel was able to shift the style to a continental style, and Rodgers built on it and led it to more success. But underpinning all of that was the blueprint Nigel laid down. Claudio benefitted from it, Puel benefited from it and expanded it to some degree in terms of young talent. Brendan further expanded on it in terms of the levels and quality of football and more silver where…. However, for whatever reason, that model was allowed to frivolously fall apart, and it has coincided with us rapidly declining. 
 

There’s nothing nostalgic about having a good system in place, and I don’t think a lot of fans appreciate what Nigel did in terms of setting up a base that functioned and did its job. KP made his life easier yes with added investment, but when you consider the PL title win that simply isn’t the case as we didn’t spent a fortune on players…. We had a system in place that worked and scouted the right profiles. There’s none of that system in place anymore, there’s essentially two people who make decisions, Top and Rudkin, and where’s the rest of that supporting staff that made the club run so effectively in the past? It’s mostly gone….. there’s nothing like that in place anymore, so it’s no surprise the club has drifted into the wilderness….. 

 

It can’t be understated, how efficient we used to be…. It wasn’t a fluke, it was a product of a good system. And regardless of what some’s view is of him, it started with Nigel, so it’s his product.

This is a pretty fair analysis, I'd say.

Top/KP have been fantastic for us and the city/county on the whole BUT since Vichai passed it’s been down hill since. Yes we won the fa cup ect but it’s clear to see his hearts not in it. The mismanagement by top and the clingers on in Rudkin and whelan are proof of how crap it’s gotten. Psr investigations dodgy sponsorships journey men players on stupid long/high wage contracts. When Vichai was here it felt like a family club now it feels like a dictatorship. For me the best thing is for KP to sell up and both move on.
