Small steps. I think what the original poster was suggesting is that it would be a bonus to have eased our finances with selling squad players rather than key players like Fatawu and Bilal (providing both stay). Other than Mads who we already have the replacement for,  don't think most are too fussed about the others we've sold. If we end up with £50m+ from Mads, Coady, Ndidi, Justin, Mcateer and Kristiansen, that's a decent start to the swamp drain.

Most likely that Soumare, Winks and Daka leave for free next summer as its unlikely anyone will buy them.

Personally think Soumare, Winks and Daka are pretty much unsellable with their wage-quality ratio.

They'll run their contracts down and most likely end up abroad on much lower wages.

Will be extremely surprised if he's still here beyond deadline day.

We still need to strengthen though, regardless.

No one is paying £35m for him. Leeds, ironically have priced themselves out by buying Justin. Sunderland were put off by the fee for Abdul, so it could be the same for BEK. No one abroad can pay that fee for him, and no one higher up the PL chain will gamble on his numbers. That's been my position pretty much all along.

I'm still not ruling out Leeds and Sunderland coming in for him. My worry is we then agree to taking Bamford and Greenwood.

Greenwood has thankfully already gone somewhere

I’d still be surprised if he is here come the deadline. If he is, question as to whether he reacts well.

Bilal on form would be very valuable at this level. As would Abdul and Stephy.

Marti needs to get on to him now and tell him how important he is to us gaining promotion and not to sulk. He could be a massive asset for us this season.

assuming nobody else comes in at £35m in which case we’d be daft not to sell anyway!

Massive test of Marti's man management skills. Lad's a potential cheat code at this level but it's fairly obvious he was phoning it in for the first two games to stay fit for a move.

Get him on board and we may well become fun to watch. I think what I've seen of BEK would say he's mature enough not to throw his toys out the pram, fingers crossed. :fc:

So we are not just missing the tv money from last year we are also missing a shirt sponsor and I could be wrong but that was worth 30m to us last season? This has to be calculated for also…

Our deal was undisclosed but the EPL wouldn’t allow owners to sponsor the shirt for more than £11.2m per season.

I'd argue he was the best player on the pitch first game of the season. Admittedly not that hard but 2 assists and he was whipping the crowd up every chance he got when taking corners

Not sure he will react well to this. Forced his way out of Genk to join us, as I recall.

Can't force his way out if there's no buyer.

More maturity than pragmatism. If he stays all season and cuts the Championship to ribbons, he'll go to the US with Morocco and either put himself firmly in the shop window or negotiate himself a better contract with us.

If he spends the season with his bottom lip tripping him up, he doesn't get a move in January and possibly not even the summer and he's nowhere near the plane from Casablanca to JFK.

We'll be adding Skipp to that list too sadly.

I don't disagree, unless of course he massively improves and quickly. He isn't even standing out against fairly limited Championship opposition.

It sounds as though his agent (his mum) is the real issue.

My mistake, just googled and he did force it, what a magical thing the internet is

Unlike Faes who has done everything in his power to get dropped by Belgium, for both them and us, yet is still glued to their team sheet with Solvite

Don Goodman will be reeling at this news

Are you up to date with your immunity to his drivel? I had my last dose two years ago ahead of the season but think it's worn off. Oh god.

I just wonder if whoever is doing our negotiating this summer is finally playing the games that rudkin never did. Palace messing us around trying to get him cheaper hence we announce actually we don’t need to sell him now, balls back in their court.

We'll all take Don Goodman though when you get Prutton and McAnuff as well
