Top English sides are behind the best champions league sides but the next bracket of teams are so much better than those in the rest of Europe. England should dominate this and the conference league for years.

It would boil my piss if I'd spent wads travelling to and entering the ground and I got a great view behind the goal, and then some geek was waving a massive flag in front of me incessantly for 90 mins.

 

Probs not great to be a Freiburg fan for other reasons tonight, though.

Doesn't it also mean Bournemouth or Brighton will be in the Champions League next season?

I really hope its stuff like this that hurts Top & Rudders and then Palace win the ECL, 3 teams not even with the heritage we have.  One Trophy between them!!!

6th goes to CL if Villa finish 5th or above after winning tonight.

The change to stop UCL teams from dropping into the Europa League has been an inspired one if you're a middling English club.

 

Bournemouth will probably be one of the favourites to win it next season for instance!

UEFA are going to be under huge pressure to try to address PL dominance of their competitions. 

 

Their move to increase CL league places has backfired broadly as PL clubs are too strong for their other competitions as the likes of Brentford and Brighton have as much budgets as the biggest clubs in Italy and Spain. Funny the top European sides wanted it to help more established sides qualify!

Think it's a little bit sad if English sides hoovering up the European trophies becomes a consistent thing.

 

Can't knock Villa as an individual club, they've gambled and it's paying off for them. One European trophy and a couple of seasons in the CL over the last few years.

 

Palace having a good chance of winning the ECL, West Ham winning it, Spurs nabbing the Europa League last season. Individually, obviously they're going to want to win it.

 

But surely it's less exciting when you can say at the start of the season that an English team should win the trophy and then one does.

Definitely not. The FA Cup is much harder to win since they stopped letting CL teams drop down. 

 

17th placed Spurs won it last year against the worst United side since 2013,

True, there are a handful of clubs, like your PSG, Barca, Real, Munich that are able to compete financially hence why CL is not so dominated by English clubs. Makes for a strong PL overall.
