Typical modern day reds are ruining the game. Football used to be a contact sport.

But that’s not new news is it doesn’t stop the fact you can’t in today’s game tackle like that or you are letting your team down

So much vitriol on here for an error and weak red!

Imagine a forward player getting a red in the first half… should never be forgiven! And forced out of the club!!

Have you been watching the first 30 minutes?

Yes. And Oxford are shite and we've just not got our rhythm going yet. Given our bench options, I'm still saying we win this

Bannan’s was never a red.

Many fans believed it was, but even if we ignore opinions, he lunged in without control, body went backwards and studs came up, it's a Red card challenge. Bit of grey area over the fact there is a gap between the studs and the player it's not as if he's very nearly missed him, but hes gone straight through the player with no control. Idiotic challenge that opens himself up for a harsh red.

Ref can't rely on VAR here, AR made a really dumb decision.

Can’t have had many red cards of debut before?

So I guess we’re just going to plod on and have even less threat up top? Ayew is so frustrating to watch. He doesn’t know when to release the ball and always holds on to it for far too long.

Just checked and Brian Carey did vs Wimbledon in 94 apparently.

I need to watch it again but he seemed over the ball and sort of gave it that scissor action. Modern game, that’s a red. The reaction of the Oxford players cemented it.

Either way it was needless and stupid.

Didn't look over the ball to me, just that the ball had already gone
