One thing you've learnt from life and wish to pass on.

Don't worry too much about the future and doing things in your life by a certain time. This is the one thing I wish I could go back and tell my younger self.

Don't worry that you don't know anything / what you want to do with your life at 20. Those who do are in the minority!

I'm 40 and I feel I'm still trying to process leaving school.

If you work for someone, be diligent with your work but don’t destroy your body for another man's business. If you think about sabotaging your employer, it's better to leave. Have integrity even if your employer does not.

Set boundaries and ask questions about the work that you've been assigned, the pay and the time. Try to only overwork if it means gaining experience/learning a new skill. Be confident and don't downplay your work because self-doubt will eataway your self-esteem. Mistakes happen and they stay just that so don't allow them to become a pattern. Trust people to be themselves but trust the fact that you can see them well. Don't give people at the workplace the rope that further down the line will be used as your noose. If you take someone under your wing to teach them, set boundaries and the first thing they should learn is to organise themselves and their area of the workplace. If you give them the "grunt-work", help them with it. They are under you, not beneath you.

Don't be cheap with the praise and be constructive with your criticism.

And most importantly, don't allow work to distance you from the ones you hold dear. Don't be a mule that only lives to work and eat. You are responsible for the wellbeing of your body and your mind. Try not working the "graveyard" shift it will leave you an empty husk of your former self.

It costs nothing to be kind but it costs a lot to be gullible so make with my words what you want.

If someone is rude or unkind  to you , do NOT respond in the same way. Do not base your life decisions off of someone else’s integrity. That means you are displaying no integrity of your own.

Putting yourself first is not selfish. I've learnt the hard way that not everyone will appreciate you going out your way for them. That's not to say be unkind and unhelpful but it shouldn't come at the detriment of your own wellbeing

Don't accept criticism from someone that you wouldn't take advice from. Just smile and move on :)

I really like this. And as a related point, people who are better than you at something are rarely the ones who criticise you.
