"Why do we need Wes Morgan? He's no better than Sol Bamba."

I thought we'd be alright replacing Kasper with Danny Ward. I think this alone constitutes to me being banned from all football related conversations going forward.

Mods feel free to delete my account, I had a good run.

I think you should be banished from the forum henceforth.

Although I was convinced that ****ing Kane would never make it. Technically gifted my arse.

Was pretty supportive of Puels “vision” at the time

I know that squad pushed on but it’s pretty clear looking back we were severely underperforming under him

Puel was so important for what we became , some people just don't see it

Don't wanna get HMRC of Football Podcasts on this but Kante didn't start that game, be weird if he was in a pre-match line up

Not me, but I remember someone trying to convince my Rashid Ghezzal was better than Mahrez based purely on the opinion of an Algerian he knew 😂.

I never mention it…

I remember being really excited when Gareth Williams signed.... Quality ball playing midfielder we'd been crying out for a good while... Dream partnership with Stephen Hughes...Dear oh dear.

Man, Stephen Hughes. He looked like a real signing in first two games and then just fell off. Happened quite a bit. Marbury another. Decent first game and then disaster. Ryan Smith from Arsenal another that springs to mind.

Peter Taylor (this is quite cathartic)

I think everybody thought he seemed like a great signing given what he'd done with England u21s and, to a lesser extent, Gillingham.

I knew from the first few signings he was going to be calamitous though. Couldn't believe the rubbish we were spending our biggest ever transfer budget (at the time) on. And even when we were 2nd a decent way into that season it was obvious we were being carried by what MON had left behind.

Same one I was going to say, I thought Wes would be a horrific signing.

Ah that was another one of mine. After his loan with us I also said he'd never be any good. Secretly I always hoped he wouldn't be, especially when he played for Spurs. I don't mind him as much now he's at Bayern and I always want him to do well for England. Just wish he'd do it for England in a tournament

Giving Shakey the job on full time basis was well deserved...

Did a good job in the interim from February till the end of the season, climbed away from the relegation zone and reached the champions league quarter finals. Just looked so helpless in the job long term, looking back now I'm not sure what was the forward thinking with Shakey. Worked out short term in terms of holding the fort but long term he wasn't strong enough for the main manager job. Shakey was a fantastic coach just not a manager, perfect assistant to any manager.

I always feel that the board never wanted to give him the job on a full term, it was more fan pressure to give him the job. I think Puel was already being lined up for the summer.

All of that was in the first few games. We fell off a cliff after the initial bounce and got hammered at home by Spurs, which should have been the signal that it was in fact just a new manager bounce and nothing to do with his management.

I said that at the time, and keeping him on was just another of those decisions the club makes that was purely done because it was the easiest, laziest thing to do.

There was a lot of excitement about Stephen Hughes. Looked like our most talented midfielder since Izzet at the start. There was lots of potential in that era's team that was never realized.

Then again I also thought Neil Danns was a terrific signing at the time.

He was a good player, just played here in an inconsistent, mix match of a side. He deserved better

I remember just about bursting with excitement the year we got relegated to division 1. I remember saying on here that there’s no way we’ll be anywhere near the relegation spots come the end of the season..

I thought Inler was the stand out signing of our summer window in 15/16…

My mate called him "Inl-uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh?" that season because of how slow he seemed compared to everyone around him. He wasn't even bad - part of THAT squad after all - but surprisingly underwhelming compared to everyone else. Even Nathan Dyer has that Villa game, but I can't remember a single memorable contribution he ended up making in his five appearances. Still got a medal though. Just.

Inler didn’t help himself with his first appearance though. I remember a corner to us, can’t remember who it was against. The ball was headed out and Inler played a perfect first time volleyed pass out to the left winger. There was a collective “ooooh” from the fans. Promised so much
