Was talking to a friend today and we recalled when Steve Walsh applied for the job post Levein. I remember an article in the Mercury at the time where Walsh admitted applying but Mandaric didn’t respond.

I also weirdly remember him giving coaching pointers to Alan Sheehan on Radio Leicester to convince people he was right for the job. No coaching badges. No experience. No idea. However, we were both convinced at the time, Walsh was the right man for the job. No reasonable reason why. I think it was the second time he applied (first time being with Cottee post O’Neil)

He would’ve been a disaster. Real bad take.

Another bad take for the opposite reason was the Ranieri appointment but I think many of us would have that on the list.

So when has your superior football opinion been humbled by a decision or non decision of the club ?

I thought we'd be alright replacing Kasper with Danny Ward. I think this alone constitutes to me being banned from all football related conversations going forward.

Mods feel free to delete my account, I had a good run.

No, hands up, me too lol

I was adamant Nigel Worthington was the man to take us forward after his brief caretaker spell.

How wrong I was.

Thanks to the horror show that followed under twenty seven other mangers over the next twelve months, we finally did something right and hired Nigel Pearson. We wouldn’t have been so enlightened had we stuck with Wortho and not been relegated.

Mad Mandy got there in the end. Should’ve just trusted the process.

I was quite pro Shakespeare being appointed but was pretty clear quite early we'd fallen into a bit of a trap. He never even really wanted it either but felt obliged. In fairness though he got shafted.

I thought it was a bad idea, when O'Neill got what I thought was a washed up Tony Cottee from Malaysia. He turned out be a great signing.

Giving Shakey the job on full time basis was well deserved...

Did a good job in the interim from February till the end of the season, climbed away from the relegation zone and reached the champions league quarter finals. Just looked so helpless in the job long term, looking back now I'm not sure what was the forward thinking with Shakey. Worked out short term in terms of holding the fort but long term he wasn't strong enough for the main manager job. Shakey was a fantastic coach just not a manager, perfect assistant to any manager.

I always feel that the board never wanted to give him the job on a full term, it was more fan pressure to give him the job. I think Puel was already being lined up for the summer.

Regarding Leicester, I was very excited by the signings - at different times - of Darius Vassell, Diomansy Kamara and Danny Cadamarteri.

Regarding other clubs, I thought both Ten Hag and Amorim would be the guys to turn Man Utd around at the time of their appointments.

I have to admit when we signed Vardy and he made his debut at Charlton away, he missed three sitters that day.  On the train back into central London I was repeatedly saying to all who

would listen, only Leicester could spend a million pounds on a dud!  what a waste of money etc.

How wrong, and a complete idiot was I..........the rest as they say is history.

Vardy made his league debut the week before, at home to Peterborough, and got an assist if I recall correctly.

I was at that Charlton game, can't remember much aside from losing, but I also remember going to Blackburn away the following week and Vardy scoring his first league goal. I think after that I backed him on here a lot when other's didn't. A rare time I got something right!

I was at the Blackburn game and was impressed by his enthusiasm, I remember him demolishing an advertising hoarding chasing a lost cause. I felt he was out of his depth, how wrong I was.

I thought he was the right man to steer us through until the end of the season but we should have appointed a tried and tested manager that summer. I think we probably could have gotten someone better than Puel too (even if he did a good job of stabilising us and beginning the rebuild that saw us win the FA Cup).

When Vardy first joined, I said he needed to go on loan for a season.

TBF, he wasn't an instant hit.

He really wasn't. I remember some of the anger at this non league footballer who'd cost us a fortune for that kind of gamble, and he don't do anything right.

It's why I always cringe at the instant criticism of new players on here who've not yet found their feet...

Muzzy who?

MrsG still reminds me of it whenever I moan about a new signing

Like many others I was sceptical of Vardy and thought after giving away a penalty vs Boro that he wasn't good enough for that level.

Thought Vestergaard was a really good signing.
