Popped on here as I seen Russel Martin was the fav for your managers job. If you want a bullshitter that talks a good game but in reality his flawed tiki-taka nonsense doesn’t work, who then melts like an ice cream cone under pressure, then blames everything but his methods then go ahead. He is on a different level in regards to failure than any managers have ever had. He took our club to the brink of ruin within 5 months by refusing to adapt or learn on the job which anyone in any profession worth their salt will do. Beware what you wish for lads. Best going for someone with some substance than a twat in a cardigan Believe me, none of us wish for Martin. The last time we were between managers, our fans made it clear from the stands that we don't want that 'twat in a cardigan' as you put it. I think we all breathed a collective sigh of relief when he ended up in Glasgow. The only trouble is that our owner has a bit of a fetish for his kind of football and also, as a club we have a weird fixation on Southampton cast-offs, so you never know. Martin getting appointed here would be a new low, in a series of lows, for us. Edited 9 February by murphy 3

The hope I have is Top referenced that football has moved on from that style in his interviews and mentioned 'long throws'. Hope someone has told him about Challinor! 1 1

And there are a few social media posts out there, saying the same thing. I wonder whether Rowett's criticism of 'the management' is a dig at Rudkin and KP, or our Team Manager's?! If the former, he won't be coming, if the latter, I'd say he could be nailed on!

I also think Rowett would keep us up and get us challenging for the top 6 if here next season. Maybe we need a steady manager, with old fashioned values, to get the basics right for a year or so. Boring appointment, but I think if we appointed him not Marti in the summer we wouldn't be 4th fro bottom even with the 6 points. If Rowett knows he is getting the job and has gone on TV saying that our next appointment will be 'really ambitious', then I would have to grudgingly admire his self belief. 8
sm1 Posted 9 February Posted 9 February Wouldn't be against Rowett until the end of the season, and then take it from there. 1

What you are actually describing is a manger that I going to completely rejuvenate us, What has he done to prove this is the case? 1

Nothing about that sounded like he was talking about a possible job opportunity
Leicesterpool Posted 9 February Posted 9 February (edited) Rowett seems to know something, trying to read if he knows the person whose got the job or he choosing his words carefully whilst he's finalising the deal with the club. Edited 9 February by Leicesterpool

He actually has a fairly solid track record of leaving teams in a much better state than he found them, having done this with Burton, Birmingham, Derby and Millwall. Whether he could replicate this with us is open to debate, but there would be more logic in appointing Rowett than many of the other names linked with us. 1

Could be that he was spoken to and they’ve given it to someone else and told him, hence his comments …

winteriscoming Posted 9 February Author Posted 9 February A decision is imminent. 😂 Only took us 2 weeks. On that basis it’ll be at least another week. These clowns don’t rush on anything. 1
Aleksz Posted 9 February Posted 9 February (edited) Probably means nowt but betting suspended on Skybet. They’ve probably given up on us too Not necessarily related but also noticed Skubala has shortened from the last time I looked. Edited 9 February by Aleksz

stevostadium Posted 9 February Posted 9 February Betting suspended now on sky bet Dean Smith was 28/1 into 17/2 so not sure whats going on Martin was 5/2 fav before sky bet suspended

Only 1 place has book open at the minute Bet Victor on odds checker there were 2 others. (sky bet being the other) Maybe something is pretty imminent then.
stevostadium Posted 9 February Posted 9 February Gary Rowett quoting "really ambitious decision" That points to someone not discussed here or maybe the Lincoln gaffer?
