Absolutely no. The title win and the subsequent years didn't and still don't feel real. But I can still feel the pain of relegation to League One last time and there's no way I want to go through that again. It's the lowest I've ever felt and I'd rather hang around the bottom of the Championship for a bit and rebuild from there than have to try and do it in League One.

Surely we have too much pride to actually want to be a third tier team.

Short sighted

the club would be on its arse

It’s been built and reliant on Tv money for the previous 10 odd years and was still living beyond its means

even when all the high earners go the average wage in league one is 7k we probably have crappy youngsters on double that

players on nice long juicy contracts like

Skipp

Okoli

Thomas

Fatawu

to 29

Mavididi

VK

to 28

Faes

Jannick

BCDR

Choudary

to 27

What are you quoting me for?  I've said twice that I don't want relegation.

Erm because you responded saying those that want it for renewal not spite, so I wrote why I think that’s a short sighted approach

Erm Exactly.  Maybe it's misguided, maybe its shortsighted, I wasn't advocating for it.  I was simply making the point that the criticism that people wanting relegation were not proper fans was unfair.

I’m sure the same question was raised last season “do you want to get relegated to have a reset” a lot of the answers were yes, people saying how much they enjoy the championship, 3pm games, no Var, winning most weeks.

So what’s next season relegated to league one struggling in there and the question comes up again “do you want to get relegated to league 2 for a reset”

We don’t need relegations what we need is every single fan mobilising together to get this ownership out. They are/have ran the club into the ground and there’s absolutely no way back for them. They do not give a damn

No, we just need to stay in the league and let the contracts run out or sell the majority by next summer. We really need to nail our next managerial appointment though, whoever that may be.

Flipping the question a little I don't want us to get promoted as even with a few additions we would get battered most weeks in the PL

I'd prefer to see a proper rebuild on and off the pitch to give ourselves a decent chance of staying in the top division next time we get there

I wasn’t saying it was your thoughts, simply replying to what you had posted

No but if it was what forced this owner out I'd reluctantly take it.

Why don't you give him physical abuse eh, Dan?

Anyone voting ‘yes’ has lost it. It won’t be the “cleansing” experience the last time was. We’d be ruined.

Although we struck lucky with Nigel Pearson's appointment shortly after he'd kept Saints up at our expense in 2008 of course (and we got relegated with something like a -3 goal diff.!), as you say going down to League One 17 years on from the last (and first ever....) time we did will, I fear yield very different results this time around for all sorts of reasonably see through reasons, should that happen, perish the mere thought!

No, I really don’t want us to go down to L1. It was a blessing in disguise the first time (although it didn’t feel like it when it happened) but I fear it would destroy us this time. There will only be a full and satisfactory reset when this ownership sells up and no amount of relegations will change that until then.

Wanting us relegating to league one, is like wanting to sell your mansion to live in a caravan.

No we've already lost the mansion.

I'd say it's more like wanting to sell your caravan to go live in a bus shelter.

We’ve already hit the iceberg. You don’t just sink immediately

You're still wrong. We've been there before and escaped but those were under a very different ownership, one that knew football as well as business and had a desire for the club.

This Thai boy hasn't got an inkling of any of that.

We're like a Pandora charm on his bracelet. Looked attractive once, now it's gone all dull and jaded and he can't be assed to polish it up because it actually means very little to him other than a minor trinket that his dad used to own.
