No, I think it was quite well documented at the time that they didn’t get along.

 

Puel was a better long term planner and had a great eye for a player.

 

Terrible man manager, or just had very high standards. Either way, he didn’t mesh with quite a few of that Leicester squad at the time.

Wasn’t it well known the Puel thought we needed to move him on to freshen up the squad? Obviously terribly misread it but also I don’t think it was a stupid idea, especially for an outsider. Rodgers successful squad of his first two seasons was assembled by Puel so he had an eye for a good player.

if 'the 'people above' undermined the manager then they made his position, in the long run, untenable. Much as I love Vardy, this comment is evidence that many rumours about some players in the squad were true. A strategic mistake and not just in hindsight.

Seems to have been passed on to other players as well like Winks, Vesterguard, Coasy etc

Whilst Puel's football was dire, I can't believe it was the same guy who dropped Vardy that laid the foundations for Rodgers success.

That’s the problem isn’t it, you’ve got our best ever player being allowed to do whatever he wants (rightly or wrongly there is an argument for either side) but that clearly seeped into the whole squad.

 

As did the pay structure.

Looking back, I see Puels time as crucial to that success. His task was to break the back of our 15/16 style and make us more modern team. I think I remember right that everybody thought Vardy could only play in a front 2. Puel would only play with q striker and wanted to play through the lines rather than route 1. Trouble for Puel was we were a little too slow at getting that key player ro link midfield to attack. 

We're still playing Puels formation now, at the time though we couldn't understand  it.

Yep, Puel did a very underrated job overall in squad building, he just didn’t have the charisma required to get the squad on board and that coupled with some genuine tactical and man management errors led to a very average return on points, but broadly speaking he achieved a very quick turnaround of an ageing and one dimensional squad, and despite the lack of “success” on the pitch he built a squad that was capable for the future with the ability to play different styles for future managers. 
 

His handling of Vichais passing was absolutely masterful. 
 

I am hoping that at the very least Russell Martin will do something similar in that the sort of profile of players he looks for (young, dynamic, technical and high pressing work-horses) will mean even if we end up failing under him, he will leave us a squad that can adapt to any future managers ideas. 
 

That was the legacy of Puel.

Agree with others. Vardy the player was a super star, but as a person he's not a particularly pleasant character. That sort of attitude particularly from a senior member of the squad is completely unacceptable. Whilst the decision ultimately cost Puel his job, it was the right decision at the time. Vardy had been poor for a while, and in all honesty I thought at the time his legs were gone. He went on to prove me wrong, as he had two great seasons under Rodgers, but I can certainly see why Puel felt the need to make an example of him as listening to that interview clearly the culture around the dressing room required a reset. It was a brave and risky decision by Puel, but you do have to wonder if Vardy had simply become a bit complacent and that was kick up the backside he needed up his game again.

Vards is a Leicester Legend but i think behind the scenes he can be an utter arse

I know Vardy is a bit of a dick and that comes across with this, but all of the players hated Puel. He tried to force Andy King out without ever speaking to him directly, I’ve spoken to another legend of ours personally and asked about Puel, he rolled his eyes and said “that was a struggle”.
