Nope, Leicester City were one of the top achieving English football clubs of the last ten years for…. Erm ten years. You could probably now say we will be one of the top achieving championship clubs of the last ten years, having won the championship and the odd other trophy, for a couple more years. Compare that to Spurs over the last ten years after they proclaimed themselves one of the big 6.

Of course it hasn't lol

The only thing that annoys me is that we haven't moved forwards as a club. We should have pushed on and been playing European football regularly.

If we'd have gone down in that season after then it would have always been mentioned alongside what happened.

The Ranieri sacking was likely always going to be mentioned alongside it but that, and Vichai's perception amongst the rest of football, was kind of rewritten after the crash. People have almost forgotten how much our owners and club were despised after that sacking.

I think that what's happened years later doesn't really impact on anything. We should have had many more years competing for Europe as a ripple effect of being in the top clubs.

I think of us who never blindly attributed everything to our owners when things went well accepted these days were going to come along soon enough.

Also, without excusing the owner or that useless ***** Rudkin, at least we have something to debate being tainted.

There's fans of 90% of clubs in England who will never have that.

We hear a lot about Brighton. They'll likely never have anything to show for this period of "successful recruitment".

I may be an old git at 53, however when you grow up knowing you have not won much (apart from League cup in the 60s and 2nd Div titles), I was over the moon by winning under MON with a so called ugly style "anti-football" team.

Roll on 15 years and we develop a squad capable of winning the prem against all odds, had squads full of amazing talent from Vardy to Tielemans, Maddison to Mahrez. We win the league for the first time in our history, the FA Cup and the mighty Community Shield lol. Was in the Quarters in the Champions league as well? I remember us running deeper than any other English club that year before coming just short against Athletico Madrid.

No one can take away our history.

There will be a number of clubs who wish they were as successful as us over the last 10 years, plenty of them much bigger than us.

I truly believe if Vichai hadnt left us during that tragic day, we would still be a competitive Prem club. As much as I loathe typing it, Top and those around him have made so many poor calls that Vichai would be turning in his grave. They have let him and the club down but it cant take away what we have achieved.

I want to besinging about Vichais dream in years to come like other clubs do about there legendary players.

BTW, I have not dismissed getting backup there again but with all the money thats about and teh restraints clubs of our size have, its going to be a challenge

Exactly. 'Is it tainted' can only be a question because they did 'it'.

They did it!!!

It stands alone

No. It just magnifies what an absolute mess we have made of things. Horrifically bad

lt really is on a biblical level.
Personally & probably bizarrely, l lost some interest, as we really had peaked when winning the Prem. Can’t explain why.
I never ever saw this level of drop off on the horizon though (bar the FA Cup win).

It should serve as an inspiration what can be achieved not by inflated transfer fees but by effort, determination, togetherness, desire to win against the odds and strong leadership. Sadly there are far too few in our current team with these traits and some who are simply treading water and going through the motions with no interest in whether we win or not. Get rid.

I said this before. I don't think Brighton fans are really that ****ed about it.

The journey from English fourth tier to European football is beyond their dreams anyway.

Punching well above your weight consistently is impressive and something to be immensely proud of for me.

Of course it's nice to win things, but if you're pitching all your enjoyment and judging your club on trophies won then you're not going to have much fun the majority of the time.

Impressive yes. But the comparison between us and them after their inevitable fall will be that we have something to show for it.

I don't like to bring that up because King Power have used those successes as a way to gaslight us into accepting what has come after.

We put way too much attention on the owners when we won anything and the same people that were happy to do so want to put no attention on them now. If still pisses me off they were on the pitch with the trophy.

While I wouldn't level anywhere near the same accusations towards Top as I would at Chansiri's time at Sheffield Wednesday then if we're not careful then he could well be leading us down the same rocky path, which we're arguably heading towards at the rate we're going! This is so like 20 years ago under Levein right now it's untrue after the fall out from our then relegation in 2004, etc!

Not at all. Wear the shirt in a neutral town and you get smiles, comments, etc.

Absolute worst case you get people saying "shouldn't have sacked Ranieri/ Brendan/Cooper" but we'll forever be that team that 95% of professional clubs envy.

Jesus. This statement applies to both your original question and this reply:

It's not that deep.

Agree how utterly wild it is we had never won the league and cup and then won them both in five years despite apparently being something of a shambles behind the scenes. Testament to how many brilliant players we had during that period.

Nothing will ever taint what we have done. It’s not an understatement to say that what we did has never been done before and will never been seen again. Completely unique.

We are in this position now due to Vichai’s passing and our club being unable to understand and work within the PSR restrictions.

Once we have someone capable running the show and rules that are fit for purpose we’ll be back.

What we have experienced will always be there and in memory. No one can take or taint that.

What is frustrating is it was an opportunity, instead we have ended up declining to back how we were 15 years ago.

Its hard now to see a route back to anything like that again, as clubs like this don't get opportunities like that often.

All I want to see is a team that put in a shift each week
