I genuinely think you would struggle to find a another club as bad as us. I was thinking that Wolves might be up there but they’ve made changes that the fans (who seemed very united behind it, unlike us) were asking for.

The players absolutely despise the fans, I think that much is clear.

Cannot imagine why!  lol

it's obviously not a career goal, but you learn a lot about their mentality from how they handle a relegation battle and that sort of set back.

Well if he came back he might experience a mentality testing relegation to League 1 rather than a mentality testing relegation out of the EFL completely!

Huge win for Newport. If they’ve got a chance of staying up could be worth him staying there. If we manage to shift Soumaré & Winks could always recall Cartwright as a bench option:

Skipp / Hamza

James / Cartwright

BDCR / Ramsey? / Page

Thanks to Harrogate losing Newport have moved off the bottom on GD.  And the table at the bottom is bunching up a bit, they're only a point off safety now and the bottom 5 are all within just 2 points of eachother.  I reckon he'll want to stay and see if he can help them stay up now.

Bring him back and on the bench as cover for Skipp and JJ who will not go through the season being able to play 90 minutes week in week out, would get minutes from the bench and start odd games as rotation and injury/suspension cover.

I've said it before but it is astonishing how he seems to consistently get better every week, especially when he was already playing to a high level.

You just have to wonder how long he is going to keep improving and whether he will be able to keep up the consistency.

Seems to be getting fitter, stronger and more confident week by week and now adding goals to his game.

Hopefully lots more to come, just nice to see him enjoying his football.

I still have very high hopes for him, Alves and Nelson.

Wouldn't be surprised if we brought him home, with Winks out of the pitch we have 3 playet to cover the 6 and 8 position in Hamza, Skipp and James.

Braybrooke has also become a lot more creative on the ball in recent games, should have a couple more assists.

Fingers crossed for Alves, feels like him and Braybrooke have switched positions with him now struggling on loan (due to his injury) and Braybrooke impressing.

Giving me Harvey Barnes vibes when he was ripping it up at MK Dons and Barnsley -

It’s really exciting to see him getting regular minutes and the consistent performances to go with it

With Winks and Soumare leaving in the next 6 months there’s a massive opportunity for him to come back in Jan or August and cement his place in the squad 🤞🏻🦊

So pleased for him. I'd love him to come back here or even go to a League One side to take the step up...but he's doing great there, and what he needs is consistent game time to develop and catch up on the time he's lost to injury.

Keep going Sammy. Make yourself a hero at Newport, and we'll be waiting for you to come back and smash it in good time.

Pretty it was his corner that Newport got their first from as well.

Yes, got a goal, and an assist for the other goal.

I think the issue is quite clear.  He is almost certainly up to our level already, with a much higher ceiling to reach, would flourish with better players around him, and we desperately need someone of his ability in our midfield.

But on the other hand, it will be counter-productive if he comes back but then doesn't get decent minutes on the pitch.

So it's all up to how Marti views him and whether he would give Sammy a trustworthy guarantee that he will compete equally for a place in the team.  Going on Marti's words and actions so far I wouldn't trust him, and that's a shame. The situation is further complicated by the unstable position of Marti.

Better stay at Newport then!

With winks potentially being sold and Ramsay probably being sent back, I will go against my usual thought of letting the lad continue at Newport and bring braybrooke onto the bench.

We need rotation for skipp and why not pocket the potential money from winks and also give Sam the chance to break into the team?

Also, he’s always looked like a lad that if playing in Spain would be deemed better than he is. I’m certainly not saying he’ll become Modric like most joke about but he’s certainly a lot better than league two
