Would like Evans to go up front but doubt he's going to jump ahead of Thomas, should be on the bench though. James and Fatawu only ones I'd be desperate not to risk, maybe Nelson and Jakub but I think they need to continue playing. Mavs needs to find some confidence from somewhere and may as well give Wanya a go.

This an eatly 12:30 KO. On telly?

12:15. Discovery and TNT.

So many FA Cup games are on Discovery or TNT which is a shame. BBC only got Macclesfield/Palace (same day as us though) and Spurs/Villa (which is a league fixture anyway).

Genuinely don't care what team we put out, it's not like we can knock our confidence as we don't have any. A win isn't going to set us up for a major run and losing isn't going to make us any worse.

Would love to see some of the more promising youngsters at least make the bench for this one.

@Leicesterpool why did you describe it as a "very difficult pitch"? Are you just assuming it's poor because they're fourth tier and you think it's 1995? I've just been watching some recent highlights and it looks fine.

Especially not when his job is as insecure as this. Not a chance he's going to field some of these suggestions.

Exactly. Plus these games are worse to throw all young players into at once. They will be up for it/physical as the "underdog". If we were at home then it'd be different. We just need to win this game and not be part of a cup upset. We have no confidence as it is so anything other than winning in 90 minutes is going to make it all worse.

Not that I think we're good enough for a decent cup run but you never know.

With the weather forecast to come who knows what the pitch is going to be like. Remember Cheltenham as you say are a fourth tier side, a much small pitcher in a tighter ground.

I really don’t care about a cup run mainly because I don’t want any extra games of having to watch this side.

I would like to see Evans get a chance, most likely off the bench but I highly doubt he’ll he involved, especially with the u21s playing on Friday.

I really have no idea what sort of side he’ll put out.

Evans is now below Wanya Marcal! I don’t think Evans will even be in the squad

Why are people picking the third choice keeper ahead of the second choice one who absolutely needs minutes?? 🤷The coaching team have already seen him and clearly think Begovic is better. Surely it makes sense therefore to get minutes into him?

An unpopular/unlikely selection I’m sure, but I’d go -

                   Begovic

Aluko Faes Vestergaard  L.Thomas

              Winks  Choudhury

  S.Thomas     Page      Monga

                        Daka

And if Soumare was fit, I’d pick him, too. 😊

Good mix of experience (if you can call it that) and youth I think.

Unpopular, (and unlikely),  thought but depending on what levels of interest clubs are showing in our naughty step players, it might make sense to get minutes into Faes, Winks and Soumare, (is he still injured)?

It gives wanted players a rest; showcases available players and - if worst comes to worst - gets them fitter should we end up having to play them. 🥴

I see where you are coming from, but if - and it's a BIG if! -  any teams are interested  in taking these three then they are likely to be prem or champ teams (who can afford to pay their ridiculous wages), and therefore still in the cup, and therefore not wanting cup-tied players!

So leave them on their sofas and give other fringe players a run out.

Dunno where the risk is in playing a decent team, we ain't getting playoffs now (just to make 70 points would take a massive change in form and that's before any psr deduction taken into account).    Probably 10 or 11 wins minimum plus however many it takes to overcome psr? And I doubt we'll go down, unless psr penalty huge.

So we should take the fa cup seriously and get as far as we can, especially when lining up against minnows like Cheltenham. That's not to say some of the younger ones don't get a chance, but we should be making 100% sure we're not gonna get knocked out this weekend.

Get your point. But I think where they might end up may not even be in England. 🤷
