A significant change in structure like that needs coaching time to get it working correctly - especially with an already leaky defence.

There really isn’t the time to do that; and I’m not convinced we have the personnel at centre half to pull off a three; you don’t really want any of Okoli, Vestagaard or Nelson being dragged out wide and asked to defend against skillfull and pacey wingers.

Equally - I’m far from convinced that Mavididi has the skill set to play as the pivotal centre forward in that formation - and would be the perfect example of square peg in round hole you’re complaining about.

more an oval peg in a circular hole. Not his main position but one he's played enough to be effective in. Like playing BdCR as a CAM despite historically being a winger

I'm genuinely a bit surprised this year with all the striker problems we've got that we've never put Monga on the wing and Stephy up front.

Id like to see it. Even if it's a position he's not played for two years, he should know it well enough, and even in the worst case we've got a more fluid and interchangable front three than anything else we've tried

Mavididi is not a forward - and in a 3-4-3 like you posted, you need a link forward in the middle that brings the wide men into the game, who can then go and be a presence in the box afterward.

Mav is neither of these things.

Monga can't play 90 minutes every 4/7 days

I get it’s not ideal but what choice do we have , Daka is 💩

The choice up front seems to be

no pace but experience or

Pace but no ability to score

It's not about what they add to upfront, it's the impact that Ayew has around the pitch.  He drops deep as he wants to get the ball and will either fall over and cheat or run down a blind alley.  He is unable to control the Enzo ball that JV insists on playing, yet people still say his strength is hold up play.

Watch his positioning today.  Drops deep so we have no focus up front, drifts to the wing to get the ball from Mav and does nothing with it  He constantly cheats rather than play football which plenty of times ends up with us getting countered, he then hacks away at the opposition giving away free kicks.

I'd have gone 352.

We've 3 CBs starting

Ricardo Hamza and Page in the middle.

A couple of wing backs

A 10

And a 9.

You flood your weakest area which today is CM.

Out of interest, who would you play as the wing backs?

Oh, we're playing again with Marti on the wheel? Nevermind, I'll tune in for the final score which will be 3-0 to Oxford.

You mean half time score surely.

Seriously, he played over 100 games in Ligue 1 playing down the middle with 30+ goals.

He's not completely unfamiliar with it.

Nah gotta be in a double surely

I actually fancy Page receiving the ball into feet. He's got the ability to take a decent touch and turn.

What worries me is that his outballs will be straight back to Okoli or Nelson, or via Choudhury/Reid straight back to Okoli or Nelson...

Looking at today's squad  makes you want to weep .How have we come to have a lower championship/league 1 squad  without somebody's and something majorly  changing. It's going to take many seasons and luck to put this right if it ever does .

People on Foxes talk: Play the youth

Also people on Foxes talk seeing 6 academy products on the bench:

Monga and Aluko are the only ones worth keeping. Dont know anything about Gray so can't comment on him. Thomas x2, Wanya, Daka and Soumare all need binning.

Aluko and Thomas

Or Aluko and Fatawu

Or Aluko and Ricardo and play Soumare CM.

Or Ricardo and Thomas.

None are great options but you keep the central area of the pitch crowded and give support to Page.

can not believe the coward has started Ricardo again, Thomas has rightfully been dropped for his performances but Ricardo has been just as bad if not worse this season and we have conceded loads more goals down our right side.

Yeah - best return was 9 in 23 (plus 17 sub appearances) over 5 years ago for Montpellier.

I also believe that his use as a striker tended to be in a pair at that time - mixed in with time on the left flank when the formation switched to a single striker setup.

There’s a reason why a coach like Enzo utilised him solely on the left flank to great effect - that is his best spot on the pitch to utilise his skill set.

All while having by far the highest wage bill of any club in the league. Disgraceful really.

Transfermarket has him down for 98 games for Montpellier, where he scored 21 goals.  All coming from LW.  Says he played 15 at CF.  0 goals or assists. (There is a discrepancy as the positional chart only lists 71 games, but still accounts for 19 of the 21 goals.)

Appreciate you might be seeing stats elsewhere but that looks well outside margin of error.
